Abijah Nyambura Nderitu

1930 – 2022

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Abijah Nyambura Nderitu of Witima Village, Othaya, Nyeri, which occurred on Sunday 24th April, 2022.

Loving wife of the late Peter Nderitu Gatumbo. Daughter of the late Samson Mbuthia and the late Jesse Wambui Mbuthia.

Sister to Joan Wanjiru Kiriungi, the late Gideon Maina, the late Rahab Wanjiku Mwaniki, David and Dorothy Gathungu and the late Peter Mwangi. Mother to George Gatumbo, the late Michael Mbuthia, Florence Wachira, the late Prof Charles Warui, Nancy Ndonga, Cyrus Maina, Bernard Gitonga and Lay Canon Wachira Nderitu. Mother-in-law to Phyllis Gatumbo, Grace Mbuthia, Jane Wachira, ane Warui, Dr. Catherine Mwarari, Faith Wakarima Gitonga, Onesmus Ndonga and the late Lawrence Wachira.

Grandmother to Muthoni and Kanyana, Dr. Wachira, Abyjah, Wanjira, Nyokabi, Dr. Muthoni N, Gichuhi, Nderitu, Samuel, Wanjiku, Brian, Njeri, Nyambura. Nyamu, Simon, Maureen, Maurice, Eric, Edwin, Patrick, Mukundi, George, Catherine, Daniel and many others.

Great-grandmother to Baraka, Nguru, Wamuyu, Furaha, Gabby, Charles, Abby, Adam, Wambui,Wanjiku and many others. A loving auntie and dear friend to many.

The cortege leaves Outspan Funeral Home – Nyeri – on Friday 29th April, 2022 for a funeral service at ACK St. Peters Church – Witima – at 11.00a.m and burial thereafter at her farm in Witima Village, Othaya in Nyeri county.

Friends and relatives are meeting daily for prayers and funeral arrangements at her home in Witima village, Othaya and on Tuesday and Wednesday at All Saints Cathedral, from 5.00pm in Nairobi.
