It is with humble acceptance of God’s Will that we announce the ‘passing on’ of Mzee Abuya Daudi Tamaro, former Public Service Commissioner and Proprietor of Tabaka Academy on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

First African Principal of Asumbi Teachers Training College (TTC) and served in various leadership capacities at other institutions, such as Siriba TTC (now Maseno University) , Kigari TTC (Embu), Kericho TTC, Kisii TTC (now Kisii University), the first Principal Gusii Institute of Technology (now Kisii National Polytechnic), Chairman of the Health Management Board Gucha District (2003), Chairman Board of Governors of several secondary schools, such as Nyansiongo Boys and Nyabigena Boys, Member of the Gust, Supreme Council of Elders and others.

Son of the late Marcelliano Tamaro Mogendi, the late Rebecca Auma and late Sabina Bochere of Bomware CIan, Tabaka Location, South Mugirango Constituency. Loving husband of Celina Bonareri Abuya. Son in law of David Onsombi Nyabwandire, Yoriana Ong’aki Onsombi and Maria Mong’ina Onsombi of Bonyakauga village, Bomariba Sub Location, Bomariba Location, Bonchari Constituency. Father of Jacqueline Kemunto Kiage (Kisii Eye Hospital), Angela Kerubo Abuya, Ph.D., (Empower Change Leadership Circle), Jacinta Moraa Onchari (Psalms Academy, Kisii), Mogendi Abuya Tamaro (Kisii University), Evelyn Bitengo Spence (Canada) and Lydia Goko Kinyua (United Kingdom). Father-in-law of Prof. Dan Kiage (Kisii Eye Hospital), Justus Otiso (Kabarak University), Carolyne Mogendi (Ministry of Health, Kisii), Dr, David Spence (Canada), Silvano Kinyua (United Kingdom). Grandfather of Paul and Ruby Kiage, Folasade Adeyemo, Kerubo, Emmanuel and Otiso Onchari, Tamaro, Abuya and Bongaki Mogendi, Eli Spence and Makena Kinyua.

‘Korera’ of Timothy and the late Priscilla Kiage, the late Charles and Delilah Otiso, Joseph and Hellen Teya, the late David and Velma Spence, and the late Provincial Commissioner Peter Kabau and Mary Muratetu. Brother of the Tamaros – Samuel Ombasa, Lucia Sagero, Francis Ondari, the late Paul Nyagwanga, retired Chief William Omweri, Aloys Mogendi, Rose Moragwa, Salome Onyinkwa, Nyabiage Keuya, Peter Omboga, Nyaboke Ondimu Nyasita Akuma, the late Daniel Omweri, John Abuya, and Zebedeo Mogendi. ‘Semo’ of the late Francis Mbuya and late Damson Mairura (Manyibei Brother-in-law of retired Sr. Chief Dismas Tirisa Onsombi, Marcella Mbuya, Beatrice and Mary Mairura, John, the late Kemunto, Melen, the late David. Julius, Kwamboka, Bernard and Maiko Onsombi, Ibrahim Onyinkwa, Barnabas Sagero, Keuya Ong’ori, Ondimu Mbicha, arid Akuma Mang’uti. Uncle of the Ombasas, Ondaris, Omweris, Mogendis, Sageros, Onyinkwas,Adelbert, Ombogas, Mogendis, Omweris, Abuyas, Tirisas, Mbuyas, Mairuras, Kiriagos, Morumbes, Moindis, Opores, and many others.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his residence in Tabaka and Dan’s/former Dados Hotel, Kisii Town from 4.00pm – 8.00pm (last day of meeting Tuesday, April 23, 2019).

The cortege will leave Hema Hospital Mortuary, Kisii on Thursday, April 25, 2019.There will be a Requiem Mass thereafter at Tabaka Catholic Parish before the body is taken to his residence.

Burial will take place on Frlday, April 26,2019 at his home in Tabaka.

We celebrate the life of Mzee Abuya Daudi Tamaro and are deeply grateful for his love and great contributions to his Immediate and extended family, community, nation and humanity.
