It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of our Matriarch Gladys Njeri Gakuo who passed on peacefully on 09th May, 2021 at her home.

Daughter of the late Peter Gathungu Njuki and the late Julia Njoki Gathungu.

Daughter-in-law of the late Gathumbi wa Kaguiku and the late Wacui wa Gathumbi.

Loving wife of the late Reuben Gakuo Gathumbi. Caring mother of Mary Nyambura Maina, Moses Mwangi Gakuo, the late Peter Gathungu Gakuo, Julia Njoki Warirah, Wallace Chege Gakuo, Benjamin Njuki Gakuo, Alice Waruguru Irungu and Edward Irungu Gakuo.

Mother-in-law of the late Nelson Maina, Esther Nyambura Mwangi, Martha Wambui Gathungu, the late Felix Warirah, Monicah Wacuka Chege, Hellen Muthonl Njuki, the late Nicholas Irungu, Lilian Karungari Irungu and Dr. Jane Njeri. She was Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother to many.

The cortege leaves Montezuma and Monalisa Funeral Home along Thika – Kenol Road at Kabati at 8:00am on 18th May 2021.

Her funeral service will be held at her home in Githunguri Village, lyego Location, Kangema sub-county, Murang’a County, beginning at 11am. Burial will follow thereafter at the same place.

All Ministry of Health (MoH) protocols will be observed.

Friends and relatives are meeting online for the funeral arrangements.

Beloved father-in-law of Muthoni Karinge, Nyachuma Kamau and Wairimu Kiongo. Beloved brother of the late Peter Kiongo, the late Kezia Kirobi, the late Teresiah Karinge, the late Grace Ngugi and Francis Ng’ang’a.

Step-brother of the late Njenga Karinge, Wahu Nimu, Kimonye Karinge, Wanjiru Mwaura, Ng’ang’a Karinge, Kamau Karinge, the late Njoroge Karinge, Wahu Njenga, Wanjiru Ng’ang’a, the late Nyakio Wamakima, Kiongo Karinge, Wambui Karinge, Nyakiringa Karinge and Karugu Karinge. Doting grandfather of Beatrice and Kimani Karinge, Joy, Noni, Faith and EJ Gitonga Mugambi, Paul Kamau and Tessy, Sonia and Paul Kiongo.

He was full of love and compassion for his extended family and a treasured friend and mentor to many.

The cortege leaves Umash Funeral Home on Wednesday 19th May, 2021, at 8.00am for a funeral service at AIC – Nderu grounds and thereafter burial at his home at Mutarakwa, Kiambu County.

He is survived by 11 children, 31 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The cortege will leave Tanaka Hospital Mortuary on Friday 14th May, 2021. Burial will be held at her home in Maliki (Chude) Village, Bugengi Sub-location, Matayos Sub-county on Saturday 15th May, 2021, starting at 9.00am. Covid-19 protocols shall be observed.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paul Mbaabu Ikiara Mugambi, on May 11th, 2021 after a short Illness. He was a Career Teacher and a former Tutor at Shanzu Teachers College and a businessman in Mombasa. He was born in 1957 at Mbuthune village, Katheri Central Sub-location, Katheri Location.

The fourth born of the late M’Ildara M’Mugambi and the late Rebecca M’Ikiara. Brother to the late Gladys Nkandau M’Ikiugu, Prof G.K. Ikiara, Lawrence Mwongera, Judith Gakii, Simon Karani, David Guantai, Dr. Moses Muriira Ikiara, Japheth Kimathi and Kithinji Ikiara. Step-brother to Jason Muthee, the late Bundi Ikiara, Stanley Kathurima, the late Mary Nguta and Kirima Ikiara. Husband to the late Judy Karwitha Mbaabu. He is survived by his wife Lizzie Wanjiru, and children: Kenneth Mwirigi & Betty Kawira, Gloria Naitore, Allan Mutuma, Karen Wanja, and Moses Kiuume; and grandchild Alvin Mwirigi.

Burial will take place at his rural home in Meru, Mbuthune Village Katheri Central Sub-Location, Katheri Location, on Friday 14th May, 2021.

Father to Anne Wambui Mwaura (Kenya Airways), Kimani Ruhanga, Wilfred Githua Ruhanga (FHI360), the late Samuel Miingi Mwaura and Danvid Njuguna Mwaura.

Son-in-law to the late Mr. & Mrs. Wilfred Githua Njuguna of Uthiru. Father-in-law of the late James Kariuki, Wanjiru Mwangi, Susie Ibutu (NCCK), Jane Nyambura and Veronica Wambui. Grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and mentor to many.

There will be a memorial service and fundraising at ACK St. Peter’s Church Uthiru Grounds on Sunday 16th May, 2021, at 3.00pm.
