It’s with deep sorrow; we announce the untimely death of Elijah Kirnathi Thuranira (Kim Gattuso inn). A 4th year student Architecture-JKUAT which occurred on 10th April 2017. Son of Arthur Thuranira and Lena Thuranira. Brother of Kellen Mwendwa (Maua Methodist Nursing) and Denis Mutwiri of Kibirichia. Nephew of Patrick Kithinji (NBI), Harriet Kimaita (Naari) and Richard Kirimi (NBI). Grandson of Elijah Kinoti (Kibirichia) and the late Jane Kinoti; cousin of Ruth Nkatha, Teddy Karani, Nicole Karimi, Kevin Kimaita, Clinton Mwenda, Linda Naitore, Hope Kendi, Jeremy Muthomi, Kathure, Muthamia, Josie, Yvonne,Ann, Favour, Mwika and Charles. She was the beloved wife to Paul Chiira Gachie. Daughter to the late David Mwenjeri Gichu and the late Loise Wanjiku Mwenjeri of Tumaini OlKalau. Mother to Gad Githaiga, Shadrack Mwenjeri and Rachael Njeri. Daughter-in-law to Lydia Wan Jeri. Sister to the Late Susan, Maina Dave, Mary, Samuel, Grace (Germany) and Leah (Canada). She was a Sister-in-Law cousin, aunt and a friend to many.
Family and friends will meet at her residence in Mwiki, Kasarani and their rural home in Kiandumba, Chinga location for daily prayers and funeral arrangements as from 5:30pm. There will also e meetings at PCEA st Andrews Nairobi which will be on Thursday and Friday. Friday being a fund raising towards her hospital bill and funeral expenses. Celebrating the Life of a True Companion of Jesus

The Eastern African Province of the Society of Jesus prays in thanksgiving for the life of Fr Stanislaus Mascarenha, SJ whom the Lord called to his eternal dwelling on Easter Sunday, 16th April 2017 in Chennai, India, where he had been since the end of February this year for treatment.

Fr Stan, as he was popularly known, first came to Eastern Africa in 1969. He taught in Kibosho and Ntungamo Major Seminaries in Tanzania until 1971.

He then went to his doctoral studies in Canada and returned to Africa in the 1980s and taught in the major seminary in Malawi, and at the Catholic Institute of West Africa, before coming back to Eastern Africa where he taught at the Apostles of Jesus Seminary in Lang’ata.

He dedicated his life to the education, spiritual and pastoral ministry of the people of God within Nairobi. He was also a member of the Nairobi Music Society. Fr Stan died at 82 years of age.

He was a Jesuit 65 years and a priest for 51 year. The Memorial Mass will take place at Mwangaza Jesuit Spiritually Centre in Karen on Saturday, 22nd April, 2017 at 10am. May he rest in eternal peace!
