Beloved husband to Felista Wambui Kamau. Father to Joseph Kamau, Christine Nyawira, Linet Wanjiru, David Mungai and Julius Kireri. He was son to Mr. Kamau Kireri and Juliana Nyawira. Son in law to Samuel Chege. Brother to Julius Kireri, Peter Kanyugo and James Gichohi

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home Rukira village Othaya for funeral arrangements.

The cortege leaves Outspan Hospital mortuary Nyeri on Thursday 18th June 2020 at 9.00am for burial at his home Rukira Village, Mumwe Location, Nyeri -South Sub-County.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Sister of the late Wanjiru Ruitiyu, the late Kihara Kibuika, the late Kibunja Kibuika and the late Nyamathwe Ngure, Loving Grandmother of Pauline Mbaire Kariuki (Ministry of Lands) and Francis Murigih, Michael and Nancy Ng’ari, Eric and Georgina Nioroge, Boniface Kiarie, Josephine Needle, Ruth Wanjiku Ng’ethe (USA), Charles and Liza Njenga, Ruth Wanjiku Munyi (Nation Media Group) and Clinton Njoroge Munyi. She was an aunt, a great grandmother and mentor to many.

The cortege leaves KU Mortuary on the 17th June 2020 at 8am for funeral mass and burial Ceremony in Ruai, Acacia Road.

The cortege left Life Care Hospital Mortuary, Bungoma yesterday for burial today, 16th June, 2020 at 10.00 a.m, Masuno Village, Bumula Constituency, Bungoma County.

Mother in-law of Dr Tonny Omwansa, Eric Mutiso and Aisha Ngala Mogesi. Doting daughter of the late Jackson Omari Kobira & Yunes Nyamoita Ondicho of Kuresoi and Kiamokama. Niece of Tinega, Onsare, the late Obare, the late Omwoyo, Bwari, Moraa, the late Atuke Ondicho, Mose, Gichana and others. Treasured sister of Alice Omari, Nyanchama Omari, Albert Omari, Sospeter Mayogi Omari, Patrick Omari, Alex Anunda Omari and Christine Nyambura Omari. Sophia Monyo was wife of the late Mzee Zedekiah Monyo Nyakuti, of Emmuli Ebutanyi, Luanda Subcounty, Vihiga County. She was the daughter of the late Rosa Odera and Anyila Akutu of Ebusiekwe Mungoye, Emuhaya Subcounty in Vihiga. She was daughter-in-law of Nyakuti Standi and Trukasi Nyandiko W’Omulele. She was sister of the late Nieka, Maritsa and Ayieta and sister-in-law of Priscilla Olesi, Odero Ongaro, Beverly, Okweya, Andeso, Mboyia, Daisy, Arnedi and Ogungo and; late William Ayanga, Sila Omindi, Tom Omuyoma. Charles Obanda, Henry Omuyaku, Boniface Obanda, Choice Ayieta, Atieno, Amisi, Eclene, Philister Okoyo, Amina and Doris.

Mama Sophia Monyo was birth mother of Miriam Ongachi, Professor Martin Obanda, Lily Otato, Florence Ayuma, Oscar Nyakuti, late Amoyia, Honourable Christopher Omulele MP, Luanda Constituency, Oliver Khumba, Michael, John and Ndenga. Mama Sophia Monyo was mother-in-law of the late James Achimbo, Elizabeth Obanda, Michael Otato, Esther Omulele (Ms Niiru), Antonette Khumba, Jackyline Anyasi and Jane Ndenga.

She was grandmother of the late Earnest, Sammy, Denis, Sarno, Dissi,Ambiyo,Thabo, Orissa, Karen, Eunice, Duncan, Asiko, the late Peace, Nolega, Gloria,Victor, joy, Samba, Sophie, Hoka,Amoyia, Chris, Miriam, Okoyo, Monyo and Obanda. She was the great grandmother of many. She was Second Mother of Safari, Col (Rtd) Patrick, Stanley, Nyakuti, Pamela Odero; Mwenie, Jairo, Nyakuu, Eric Omindi; Khumba, Obiero, Iki, the late Omumbwa, the late Ndaka Omuyaku; Floice, Kuka, Olang, Dorika, Esther, Roger Omuyoma; Ongachi, Ogungo, Apollo Ayanga, Philip, Pastor Shem, David, Zephanta, Truphena Makucha; Gilbert, Elphas, Dickson, Truphena Obanda; the late Alex, Esther, Martin, William Amedi, Sarah, late Nyakuu, Fatuma, Yusuf Obanda.

Mama Sophia served as elected Councillor Mwibona Ward 1997-2002 and 2003- 2007. We thank the Almighty God for her life here on earth and pray for her soul to rest in eternal peace.

We thank the Staff of Nairobi Hospital and Nairobi Women’s Hospital for the meticulous and personalised way in which they cared for our mother.

Mama Sophia Monyo will be buried at her home in Emmuli Ebutanyi on Saturday the 20th June 2020

Mother in law to Mary Kimaili, Richard Mutinda (USA) and the late Muthengi. Grandmother to Irene Mutinda (USA), Geofrey Mutinda, Rose Mutinda, Lucy Mutinda, Georgina Mutinda, Ruth Mutinda, Abigael Mutinda, Josphat Kimaili, Jackline Kimaili, Prisca Kimaili, Patience Kimaili, Joyce Kimaili, Poline Muthengi, Alvin Muthengi, Florence Muthengi, Onesmus Muthengi, Martin Muthengi, David Muthengi, Festus Nduti and Felix Nduti among others. She had 25 great grandchildren.

Her body leaves Machakos Funeral Home on 20.6.2020 for burial in Makueni County Mutiswa Location Kavete Village.

It is with sadness but also acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Joyce Targok Mengich which occurred on the 8th of June 2020 at Baringo County Hospital after sudden complications.

Joyce was from Katmerit village, Kapsoo/Borowonin sublocation, Kapropita location, Baringo central in Baringo county. The daughter to the late Chebon Cheptoo and the late Teriki Cheptoo. Sister to Jeniffer Targok and Julius Cheptoo.

Joyce was the wife to John Kimengich Chebet (Polepole) and Mother to the late Aiphina Mengich, Monica Tergat, Charles Mengich, Maryline Chesaina, David Mengich, Emily Korir, Alfred Mengich, Ann Mengich, Lucy Mengich and Peter Mengich. Mother in law to Amb. Paul Tergat, Julie Mengich, Joshua Chesaina, Timothy Sawe, Riser Chepchieng and Anita Bett. Grandmother to Ronald and Anssa, Harriet, Gloria, Gayle, Sharon, Claudia, Nicole, Jayden, Kayla, Daniella, Gabriella, Larraine, Faith, Victoria, Samantha, Hadassah and Gift and great-grandmother to Elyaira. Aunt to Frenny, Vincent, Vivian, Vitas among many.

A private funeral service service in her honour will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kamgoin, Kapsoo on Thursday, 18th June, 2020 at 10am and thereafter she will be laid to rest at her home at Katmerit Village.

The Owinyi family lost a pillar on June 3, 2020, when Mrs Gladys Harriet Namataka Owinyi died after a long illness. Mrs Owinyi was born on November 11, 1958 at Budadiri village In Mbale, Uganda.

She was the sixth of Enock and Rebecca Zesaguii’s nine children, the others being Ida, Hellen, Rachel, the late Lorna, the late Sam, Irene, Joyce and Rotzett. She was the wife of the late Elly Kefa Owinyi, with whom she had five children – Derrick Lwatati (Raflki Microfinance Bank), Ronnie Masanga (Mars Wrigley), the late Linah, Allan Mola (EK Owinyi & Co. Advocates) and Jill Namatsi (Nation Media Group). She was mother-in-law of Lucy Muthoni, Jacky Kwonyike and Eva Odongo, and grandmother of Kimberly, Kyle, Jelani, Wamaitha, Amara, Kenzo, Odell and Adele.

Mrs Owinyi was a veteran teacher who taught English and Literature at State House Girls’, Kakamega School and Mukumu where she remained until her retirement In 2015. She enjoyed teaching, writing short stories, literature, country and reggae music. Nigerian movies, rescuing and keeping pets, farming, gardening and taking care of the less fortunate.

Mrs Owinyi battled with health complications from April 2018. She suffered high blood pressure and arthritis and was later diagnosed with acute kidney injuries, multiple organ dysfunction, sepsis and a heart condition. She was treated at Avenue, Nairobi South and Ruai Family hospitals, the latter at which she died after suffering cardiac arrest.

The Owinyi family thanks all who supported them throughout Mrs Owinyi’s Illness and until the final rites were performed on June 8. These are the Zesaguli families in Uganda and the UK and the Otlende family in Kakamega; the Nairobi Lighthouse Church led by pastors Nelson Gichohi and Kevin Malu; Avenue, Nairobi South and Ruai Family hospitals; Doctors George Moturi and Victor Ng’ani, Rafiki Microfinance, Mars Wrigley and NMG; the Kakamega School Alumni Association led by William Ojonyo (Kenya international Freight and Warehousing Association), the Mumias Boys’ Old Boys Association, USIU-Africa’s Gemba class of 2014 and the Nairobi School Class of 1995; Siginon Group, members of the Law Society of Kenya led by President Nelson Havi, Justices Dorah Chepkwony and Wilfrida Osodo, Omugolfers Reloaded, Gang Deh and KYRC.

It is with profound sadness and the acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mr. Francis Mwai Muhoro (Wa Beth) of Donholm Phase 8 and Kahuru- Engineer, Nyandarua County on 12/6/2020 at Komarok Modern Hospital-Utawala at the age of 74 years.

Francis was the only child of the late Zakaria Kibuki Mbiyu and the late Beth Wangui Muhoro. He was the loving husband of Jacinta Wanja Muhoro and precious dad to Rose Wangui Mwangi of Huruma, Rufas Kibuki Muhoro (formerly of Directline Insurance Company-Thika & RK Timber & Hardware Malaa), Cecily Njoki Muhoro of Madam Cess Uniforms Westlands, Rachel Njeri Mwai (Luton- UK), Salome Wanjiku Muhoro- Umoja & Benjamin Mugunu Mwai (Power Controls Ltd). Loving father in law of John Mwangi Kamau, Salome Njeri Kibuki of Impact (Ed) International & Esther Njoki.

Doting grandad to Valentine Wanja, Glenda Wanjiru, Kevin Kamau & Alex Muhoro Mwangi, Wanja Kibuki – Warui and Francis Muhoro Kibuki, Geraldine Nyara and Gerry Ng’ang’a Mwaura, Telvin Njiiri, Shanice Wanja & Gitemi Njeri, Ivy Njeri Wanjiku, Jayden Muhoro, Brandon Mbutiri & Jamal Muhoro Mugunu. A great grandfather to Natania Wambui, Victoria Wangui, Romain Mwangi and Njeri Muhoro. He was a beloved cousin to Bernard Muhoro Kimwaki (Gathaithi), Moses Muhoro Munyua (Matundura) and Joseph Kimwaki Karara (Gathanji) among others. Loving Uncle. He was brother in law of The Mugunu’s (Kinoo).

The cortege will leave Kenyatta University Funeral Home on Thursday, 18/06/2020 at 6am and proceed to his home in Kahuru Sublocation, Engineer Sub County – Nyandarua County for funeral service and burial.

Dad fought valiantly, believed in God’s promises and rested peacefully. Fare thee well dear husband, greatest dad and the world’s greatest granddad! Till we meet again at Jesus’ feet, rest well Baba!
