Senior Elder Anam Onditi (Professor Mzee)

1927-2020

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Senior Elder Anam Onditi (Professor Mzee) which occurred at Avenue Hospital, Kisumu on 10th March 2020.

Son of the late Onditi Onyango and mama Ogado of Nyakach, Kajimbo. Loving husband of the late Awino Anam and Atieno Anam. Father of Bishop Otieno Anam, Helena Odhiambo, Dr. Onditi Anam (JKUAT), the late Joseph Odoyo, Pauline Achieng, Ondiek Anam, Gideon Anam (Kisumu Boys High) and Okoth Anam. Father in-law of Melenia Otieno, Victor Odhiambo, Margaret Onditi (TTU), Alice Odoyo, David Otina, Beatrice Ondiek, Gladys Kwach and Priscilla Okoth (Kusa Primary). Brother of the late Joswe Nyakach, Oyanda, Juma, Charles among others.

Grandfather of Calvin (Reime Kenya), Fredrick (HJFMRI), Dr. Faith Onditi, Kasmiel, Rhoda (Liquid Telecom), Godfrey and Evans (Real-IPM Company), Phylida, Isdora, Oginga, Brenda, Junior, Tina, Ephie among others. He leaves behind several great grandchildren. Uncle of Oguma, Nyamolo Ochola Anam (Oremo Secondary), Lucia, Bathlomew, Tom among others.

Burial will take place on 4th April 2020 in Nyakach, Kajimbo Rachier sub-location, Bolo location. The burial will be presided over by Chief Apostle Ayieko Surri of Christian Evagelical Fellowship.

Dr. Mehmood UI Hassan, Muhammad

It is with profound grief and sadness that management, board and entire staff of Centre for Research in Forestry (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) announce the sudden demise of our dear colleague and friend, Mehmood UI Hassan, Muhammad who passed away on Friday, 20th March 2020 in MP Shah Hospital.

Mehmood joined ICRAF in October 2012, as Head of Capacity Development based at our Headquarters in Gigiri, Nairobi. His many contributions, sharp mind, warmth and sense of humour, will be deeply missed. Mehmood had a very calm, professional and supportive style that made him very effective and popular with partners and students, with specific mention of the African Orphan Crops Consortium and the African Plant Breeding Academy, led by UC Davis.

We offer our deepest condolences to his wife Balqis, his three daughters (Beenish, Sidra and Sana) and the rest of the larger family and we assure them of our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that, we announce the sudden demise of Mr. Donald Kimutai Sirma which occurred on 1st March 2020.

A beloved son of Loise Kipseba and a lovely Grandson of Nancy Teriki Sirma and the late Amos Sirma. Brother of Benard Koima, the late Kiprono Koima, Emmanuel Koima, Tony Koima, Norah Koima and Isaac Koima, Brother-in-law of Ella Chemirmir, Sharon Tanui, Faith Birir, Rodgers Kipturgo. And Uncle of many. Nephew of Jeremiah Sirma, Hon. Musa Sirma, Eng. Eunice Sirma, Dr. Solomon Sirma, the late Dr. Rebecca Tagi, Eng. Josphat Sirma, Dr. Kipchilowen, Kipkemei Sirma and Lawyer Vayonda Sirma,Joseph Sirma, the late James Sirma, Lina Cheburet the late Job & Pc. Burial will be at Kabimoi, Eldama Ravine constituency Baringo County on Wednesday 25th March 2020.

It is with deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of Cosmas Kasimu Matola which occurred on 16th March, 2020 at Machakos Level Five Hospital.

Son of the late Thomas Kasimu Matola and Monica Wanza Thomas. Husband of Winfred Mutinda Mutua and father of Emmanuel Kasimu and Gladys Wanza. Brother of Dr Geraldine Matola, Gerald Matola, Thaddeus Musila, Assumpta Syowia and Florentina Koki. Brother in law of Peris Wambui, Patrick Munguti, Urbanus Kioko and Bridgit Mutuku. Nephew of the late Lawrence Matola amongst others. Cousin of Joseph Matola and Joseph Muia among others.

The cortege leaves Machakos Funeral Home on 27th March, 2020 at 7am and thereafter proceed for prayers and burial in Kawauni Village, Kangundo, Machakos County.

 1926-2020

We announce the death of Beatrice Syowai Kitavi.

She was the daughter of late Mr. and Mrs Kimangi Ndote. She was loving wife of late Stephen Kitavi and co-wife to Mueni Kitavi. Beloved mother of Mbithi, John, Serah Wa Vyulya Dispensary, Joe Kitavi Principal Katulye Sec, Late Musilu, Musyoki, Kavini, Agnes Mwongeli of Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, Wambua and Ndunge. She was sister of late Ndambuki, Late Katunge, Late Kivuva among others. She was step sister of Nzioki among others.

She was sister in law of Joseph Munyao, Sammy Mathendu, Peter Mathendu, Grace Kanini, Mary Nzioki, Serah and Esther Munyao. She was mother in law of Mwikali, Mwikali Mbondo, Pastor Muinde ABC Muisuni, Consolata Musilu Ass Chief Maiuni, Nduku, David, Martin of KDF, Peter and Late Mbithi. She was grandmother of Margaret, Wambua, Carol, Rose, Isaac, David among others. She was stepmother to Mutheu.

Planning committee is meeting at ABC Kalimani.

The cortege leaves Machakos Funeral Home on Friday 27.03.2020 and later funeral service at her home in Masewani Village, Kangundo Subcounty.

The cortege leaves Avenue Hospital in Parklands Nairobi on Friday 27/03/2020 at 7.00am.

Funeral service and burial will take place same day at her home in Kigane Village, Kigane Location, Imenti South Sub-County, Meru County.

Funeral arrangements are through Social Media (WhatsApp, etc).

In view of the government Advisory because of Corona virus pandemic, the burial will be a Private Ceremony.

Dickson Gitau Gitahi (Peter Kibe Gitahi)

13th March, 1948 – 22nd March, 2020

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Mr Dickson Gitau Gitahi (Peter Kibe Gitahi) of Northlake, Kasarani (Tarabete), Naivasha on 22/03/2020 at the Nakuru County Level 5 Hospital following a short illness.

Beloved husband of Mrs Loise Wanjiku Gitau. Father of Beatrice Wangari, Isaac Gitahi, the late Beatrice Wairimu, Bernard King’ori, Muchinah Gitau, Damaris Wambui and Steven Kabugi. Grandfather of Monica, Georgina, Dickson, Kelvin, Bernard, Austin, Rose, Sarah, Peter, Kimberly, Kailah, Ryan and Jasiel. Great grandfather of Kanini and Treasure.

Father-in-law of David Kiboi, Mary Kanini, Elizabeth Wanjiku, Vivian Nyambura and John Kimani.

The funeral service will be held at his farm in Kasarani (Tarabete) Naivasha on Wednesday 25/03/2020 and thereafter interment.

It is with saddened hearts we announce the demise of James Gichuru of Quipbank which happened after short illness.

He was son of Samuel Mungai and Charity Gathoni, brother to Jeniffer Mukuhi and Florence Ngendo.

Husband to Ann Wanjiru, father to Samuel Mungai and Harrison Njoroge.

The burial ceremony will be held on 25th March 2020 at his home Gikambura Village, Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

Daniel Kioko Makau

Sunrise: 26th May 1961 – Sunset: 22nd March 2020

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing on of Daniel Kioko Makau (formerly of DHL). Dan passed away on Sunday 22nd March 2020 after a short illness.

He was the son of Titus Musembi Makau and Joyce Loko Makau. Brother to Tabitha Makau-Ndunda, Peter Mule Makau, Paul Oscar Makau, Nick Munyao Makau. Brother in law to Solomon Ndunda Kitundu, Ruth Mule, Sally Makau and Nelly Munyao. Nephew, Cousin, Uncle and friend to many.

Dan will be laid to rest on 26th March 2020 at a private ceremony.

A memorial will be held at a later date.

Doting aunty to Ian Edmonds, Valerie Gina, Dan Anahinga, Bella Amnia, Deborah Anahinga, Brian Tong, Dave Anahinga, Lakeasha Okwerriba, Daisy Aruhinga, Silas Arnakanii, Logan Mutoka and Chloe Okwemba. Sister-in-law of Kennedy Anahinga (Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries), Solomon Wamwayi (Wamwayi and Company Advocates), Donald Wakhura (Price Waterhouse Coopers – South Africa) and Lucia Achieng Okwemba, and niece to many.

The cortege leave Chiromo mortuary on Wednesday 25th March, 2020.

Funeral service and burial will be held at the family farm in Soi, Likuyani on the same day in an intimate family ceremony in observance of the current government directive on social gatherings.
