We regret to announce the death of Steve Wete Ndunde, Sign Language Interpreter of Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, which occurred on 17.03.2020.

Son of Simeon Lusiola Ndunde and the late Esther Nelima Ndunde of Mwamba Village, Kakamega County. Husband of Irene Wete Ndunde. Father of Lynn Wete, Kyle Wete and Trey Wete. Son-in-law of Augustine Nakweya and Rita Nakweya of Shinyalu Musingu and Theresia Mwongeli Nthekani. Brother of Beatrice Wanayama, Nehemiah Injendi, the late Mabel Kukubo, Noah Ndunde, Ben Chibeu and William Lijuma. Brother-in-law of Wanyama Subai, Alice Injendi, Muriel Chibeu and Diana Lijuma, Jennifer Mwongeli, Esther Mwongeli, Beatrice Mwongeli and Michael Sila. Nephew and cousins of the Ndundes and Chibeus. Uncle of Dr. Denis Wanyama, Tracey Walingo, Karl Kukubo, Wayne, Shanice, Jaylen Omari, Jasmine and many others.

He will be buried at his farm in Mwamba Village, Kakamega County today Saturday 21.03.2020.

We have hope in the forthcoming resurrection.  

Lucia Nthenya Kioko

We regret to announce the passing away of our grandmother Lucia Nthenya Kioko that occurred on 11/03/2020 peacefully in her sleep after a long and fruitful life.

Wife of the late Mzee Joseph Kioko Nzuki (Soi). Mother of Alphonce Mutisya, the late Gregory Kyuli Kioko, the late Rose Kanini Mutua, Franciscah Koki Kithuka, Anna Yula Matheka, the late Petronila Syombua Mutunga, Pius Katiku and the late Cosmas Kinthale. Grandmother and a great grandmother to many.

Funeral service and burial will take place on 23/03/2020 at her home in Kwelita village, Kabaa Sub-Location, Mbiuni Location, Mwala Sub-County, Machakos county starting at 10.00 am.

RIP Mama.

Daughter of the Late John Onyango Okwaro and the Late Mama Yuanitah Onyango of Alego Nyadhi, Siaya County. Doting and loving mother of Anita Patience Atieno formerly of St Barnabas Secondary School and guardian of Hillary John. Sister of the Late Seline, Emmah, Thomas, Rose, Hannington, Mercy and Caren. Niece of Adonijah Owino and Monica Agolla. Aunt of Tervin, Samora, Anita Toms, Beryl, Henric, Javia, Louisa, Gina and Anita. Cousin of Prof. George Mark, Dr. Evelyne Stile, Lillian, Billy, Tina, Janet, Gloria, May, Grace Martin, Grace Agolla, Jenipher, Caro, Adongo, John among others.

The cortege leaves Nightingale Hospital Milimani, Kisumu on Monday, 23rd March 2020. Judith will be laid to rest on Tuesday, 24th March 2020 in Alego Nyadhi village, Siaya County.

Legendary soukous star Aurlus Mabele is dead.

According to reports, the 67-year-old passed away after being infected by the coronavirus, officially named Covid-19.

Confirming the death through a Facebook post from Paris France, journalist Robert Brazza paid tribute to the musician who used to extensively tour the West.

“Hey, Uncle Aurlus! The young wolf I used to be will not forget your wise advice: “stay yourself little… and enjoy! “.

“My sadness is great tonight but my gratitude is more. You were the pace, you were joy, you were the kindness. Forever. Go in peace Aurlus Mabelle. I know auntie Nzambi has already welcomed you in her great mercy,” he wrote.

The singer is believed to have passed away in France which has seen 371 deaths for the virus which broke out in China in late 2019. According to health agency director Jerome Salomon, the number of cases had risen to 10,995, up from 9,134 on Tuesday, a rise of 20% in 24 hours.

Mabele was one of the founders of the legendary supergroup Loketo (hips) band, formed in the mid-1980s alongside Mav Cacharel and Diblo Dibala, which broke up a few years later.

He was one of the first Paris-based soukous stars and set the standard with several LPs in the 1980s.

Mabele is known for hits such as Embargo, Liste Rouge and many others. May he rest in peace. May he rest in peace

Henry Omino, veteran football coach, dies of cancer at 71

Veteran soccer coach Henry Omino, one of Kenyan Premier League’s longest-serving tactician, has died.

The 71-year-old died in his home in Ng’iya, Siaya County, early Friday 20th March 2020.

His widow Christine said her husband died after a long battle with Thyroid Cancer.

“He died at our home here at around 1.20 am this morning,” she told the Daily Nation.

Omino coached Agro-Chemical, Western Stima, Chemelil Sugar, Sony Sugar and most recently Kisumu All-Stars in the Kenyan Premier League.

He was hired to manage All-Stars from August 2019 to January 2020.

Nicholas Ochieng’, CEO of Kisumu All-Stars, condoled with the family.

Ochieng told the Nation Sport that as a team they were grateful for the discipline and training rigour he instilled in the team.

“He was very calm, always, and loved football even when he has been ailing while coaching the team. We have truly lost a hero in Kenya and ask God to give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,” Ochieng said.

Football Kenya Federation said: “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of immediate former Kisumu All-Stars coach Henry Omino who passed on early Friday morning. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family and friends find solace during these trying times.”

Former Kenya international Simon Mulama took to social media to mourn Omino.

“Woke up to this sad news that Coach Henry Omino is dead. Rip comrade super coach,” Mulama posted on his Facebook.

Mother-in-law of Eunice Katumo, Linda Sogoh, James Macharia and Rosemary Wairimu. Grandmother of Luciana, Vivian, Gloria, Jasmine, Victoria, Mwende, Edward, Esther Peter, Esther Sila, Sofia, Brian, Josiah and Regina. Great-grandmother of Jasmine and Liam. Sister of Ruth Kaloo, Rose Muthoki, Eric Kioko, Fredrick Muthama, Stella Munyiva, Boniface Mutisya, Sarah Nzioka and Francis Mutinda.

Funeral arrangements will be communicated at a later date.

Engineer). Father-in-law of Mishek Thaithi of Getuya Sec. Sch) and Mrs. Lucy Wanjiru Nyamu (Gatwe Pry. Sch.). Brother of late Jane Wanjiku Kabiti, late Mika Njeri Gathutwa, late Gladys Wamarwa Nginye, Mwalimu Geoffrey Mwangi Gachoki and Mrs. Rose Wangechi Gichimu. Brother of Zuena Anjela & Dr. George Odhiambo, Vivianne & Dr. Collins Jaguga, Damaris Onyango and Brenda Onyango. Husband of Olga Achieng and father of Elia Noah & Sinani. Nephew of the late Philister, Joyce, Margaret, Veronica, and Hezekiah, Margaret, Major General Francis and Grace and many others. Cousin of many.

Family and friends to meet at Ugunja home on Friday 20th March followed by the funeral on Saturday 21st March 2020 at Masiro Home.

Ludiah Cherotich Lang’at

Our Matriarch has Rested

Ambassador Ernest Lang’at and family wish to announce the resting of our beloved Matriarch, Mama Ludiah Cherotich Lang’at. Ludiah rested on the morning of Wednesday 18th March 2020, at the age of 86. She lived a fulfilled life.

Ludiah was the daughter of the late Senior Chief Daudi Kirui and the late Tabutanyi Kirui. She is the sister of the late Mary Ngasura, Sara Tuei, Naomi Chumo, Anna Koech, Marigo Chumo, and Miriam Tele. Sister-in-law to Philip, Albert, Evelyn, Tele, and Tuei. Step-sister to Joseph Chumo, Baranbus Chumo, Jeremiah Chumo, Joel Chumo, Jane Mutai, Steven Chumo, Esther Keter, Rebecca Kileges, Betty Cheruiyot and the late Vivian Cheruiyot. And also step sister to the late Jacob Chumo and Ruth Lang’at.

Sister-in-law to the late Leah Sang, the late Jeremiah Lang’at, Elizabeth Koske, Noah Lang’at, the late Anna Lang’at, the late Isaac and Jane, Rachel, Ruth, Rael and Michael Sang.

Married for 62 years to her husband Ernest, Ludiah was a loving mother to her nine daughters Nancy Lang’at, the late Alice Lagat, Prof. Caroline Thoruwa, Dr. Betty Chirchir, Dr. Judith Mutahi, Rosemary Rop, Audrey Rahedi, Joyce Githu and Valerie Lang’at. Mother-in-law to Prof. Thomas Thoruwa, Fred Lagat, Davis Chirchir, Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi, Kimutai Rop, Bill Rahedi and Githu Nderitu.

Batiem was also a devoted and loving grand-mother to Vanessa, Yvonne, Brian, Keith, Daniella, Abrahaminel, Michael, Jonathan, Cheptoo, Chebet, June, Nicola, Mimi, Kipkoech, Tapkili, Tanyi, Boboi, Rotuk, Ritho, Shiro and great-grand-mother to Ella Netai.

In acknowledgement of the times, a celebration service will be held in Nairobi by invitation only on Monday 23rd March 2020.

Ludiah will be laid to rest at the family’s Kaptebeswet Farm, Kericho on Wednesday 25th March 2020.This ceremony will also be by invitation only.

Mother of Kennedy Wanjohi, Kelvin Pemba, Godffrey Ngari, Antony Masikonde and Stephen Njane. Sister of Livingstone Masikonde, Beatrice Keranda, Paul Korondo, Virginia Nengoyo, Ann Nasaro, the late James Low, Judy Nairesie, David Toyanka and Margaret Naeku.

Step sister of the late Nelson Leparakuo, the late Teresia Shena, Roda Nashilu, Elvis Pemba, Gladys Pasio, Francis Lenkai, Patason Lekishon, Agnes Naisiae, Richard Topiko and Daniel Suakei. The cortege leaves PCEA Kikuyu Hospital Mortuary on Tuesday 24th March, 2020 at 9am, for a requiem mass at St. Joseph Cathedral Ngong. Burial will thereafter take place at her home Oloolua ngong, Kajiado County.
