In Loving Memory
D.O.B :13/12/88 – D.O.D : 05/02/2023
It has been three painful years since the sudden and tragic loss of Makena, a beloved daughter, sister and friend.
Makena will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, warmth, and the love she shared so generously with her family and community. Her life mattered. Her dreams mattered. Her voice mattered.
Makena is among the many women whose lives were violently taken in Kenya, a ,painful reminder of the ongoing crisis of femicide in Kenya. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit lives on in our hearts and strengthens our resolve. As a family, alongside the End Femicide movement in Kenya, we continue to pursue justice through the courts. We remain steadfast in our demand for truth, accountability and closure, not only for Makena, but for all women and girls whose lives have been cut short by violence. We will not be silenced. We will not forget.
Dearly missed and forever loved by her parents Joseph T. Maingi and Charity K. Maingi: her brothers Muriithi T. Maingi (Mureh) and Muchui T. Maingi (Uchu); sister-in-law Ines Mallmann; godson Toa Muchui; goddaughter Shelby Kendi: uncles, aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and all who loved her
“Those we love do not go away; they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near.” justice for Makena.
