It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. David Olima Onyango that occurred on 5th June 2022 at Avenue Hospital Kisumu.
David was the first-born son to the late Mzee Fanuel Onyango Agumba and the late Mama Serfina Omumbo Onyango Agumba of Kakmie Sub-Location, Onjiko Location, Nyando Sub-County, Kisumu County.
David was a loving husband to Enid Auma Olima, beloved father to Dr. Bellice Onen Olima, Dr. Bevlyn Anyango Olima and Aubrey Onyango Olima; father-in-law to Rosebell Owuor-Onyango. He was the son in law to the Late Charles Daniel and Penina Owiti of Gem Kagilo, Siaya County.
He was brother to Commissioner Jamasai Onyango, Late Margaret Onyango (Nyonjiko), Nehemia Onyango, Late Phoebe Onyango, Late Eunice Onyango, Late Caren Onyango, Late Leah Kisera, Late Joseph Ouko (Josto) Onyango and Late Nereah Awino Odongo. He was brother in law to Rose Jamasai, Mary Onyango, Late Kisera, Late Pamela Menya, Late Festus Odongo, Late Joseph Daniel and Monica Olewe, Prof. George and Ada Otiang’a, Agnes Owiti and Dr. Ochieng and Becky Owiti. Nyawana to Prof. Philip and Monica Owuor of Nyakach, Kadiang’a.
A cherished uncle to Late Roy and Shiro,Victor, Rogers, Maureen, Late Allan and Selaine, Marvin and Stella, Mercy and Wycliff Okola, Sandra, Barbara and Laura, Otieno,Aloyo, Perez Ngala (Amam), Amondi, Akinyi and Bushnell Doting uncle to Charles, Brian and Eugene Olewe; Charles, Eric, Jimmy and Ariana Otiang’a Owiti; Jackline and Mildred Owiti, Samuel Owiti and Mike Kilambo; Daniel and Nina Ochieng.
Dr. David Olima was a renowned surgeon and a member of the medical fraternity since 1970. He was the proprietor and founder of Boya Rural Nursing Home in Ahero. He was also one of the founding members of Gor Mahia Football Club in 1968.
The cortege leaves the Aga Khan Hospital Mortuary on Friday, 17th June, 2022 at 10.00 am for a memorial service at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral Church Milimani at 12.00 noon.The cortege will then leave Kisumu town for a night virgil at the family’s Ahero home.
The funeral service will be held at Kolunga Primary School, presided over by The Rt. Rev Dr. Joshua Owiti Ouma, Bishop of Maseno East Diocese, on Saturday, 18th June 2022 at 0930 am followed by private interment of the body at his home.
Family members, friends and well-wishers are meeting daily at his Kisumu Residence in Tom Mboya and at his rural farm on the Ahero-Kisii Road Interchange for prayers.
