Dr Elijah Ochieng Achoch

With profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing on of Dr. Elijah Ochieng Achoch which occurred on 25th April 2023 at Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu.
He was a career civil servant who served in various Government ministries including the Office of the Prime Minister as the head of Transformative Leadership, the Chief Executive Officer at the National Police Service Commission and finally the Chairman of the Public Service Board Siaya Count-NI.

Beloved spouse to the late Betty Adhiambo Ombima Achoch, Loving father to Sakina Mirichii and Edwina Mapenzi Ochieng; father-in-law to Justin Mirichii and doting grandpa to Ari and Loch.

Elijah was the youngest son of the late Zephaniah Achoch Ongada and Mildred Florence Achoch of Alego Karapui, Siaya. Brother to the late Edwin Herbert Sport, Dr. Mwajuma Abok, Monica Achoch, the late Lucy Young Achoch, David Livingstone Achoch, Lilian Achieng Achoch, and the late Caroline Knight Achoch.

Nephew to Gabriel Odongo Watula (Rabango) of Kaluo Gombe. Son-in-law of Lay Canon Daniel Ombima and Mama Anne Ombima of Gem Kotiang’.

Nyawana to John Mwaniki Mirichii and Anne Mirichii. Brother-in-law to Willis Abok, the late Anastascia Wacera, the late Kasongo wa Kanema, Anastasia Owino, Charles Ombima, Judith Kasuku, Doris Anguka, Millicent Mutuli, the late James Asweto and the late Gilbert Opondo.

Uncle to Gladys, Susan, Jack, Michelle, Florence, Brenda, Rhoda, Cheryl, Monique, Chippa, Maxwell, Derrick, Pippi, Tanya, Liston, Chantal, Jermaine, Peter Ken, Brian and Chris.

Cousin to the Orukos, Okumus, Jumas, Mboyas, Onyangos, Omalos, Manasses, Okandas and Apollos.

Friends and family are meeting daily at the YWCA, Beecher Hall (Mamlaka Road) opposite Stella Awinja University Hostels from 5:00pm.

A fundraising event will be held at the same venue on 6th May, 2023 from 2:00pm. Contributions may be sent to Paybill (400200) Account Number (40033890).

The cortege leaves Aga Khan Hospital Morgue on Friday 12th May 2023. Memorial service will be held on 12th May 2023 from 2.00pm at St. Peters Church Siaya. He will be laid to rest on Saturday 13th May 2023 at his Karapul home.
