It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Dr. Luke Wasambo Were (PHD) Former Literature Professor at Kenyatta University.

Son to the late Erasto Were & Clementina Oremo (deceased) of Gem Nyawara.

Husband to Margaret Father to Yoni, Matthew & Tim.

Brother to Samuel Ndeda, Deborah, Eunice (late), Charles Omondi (deceased), Josehphat Obara Hellen Mam (deceased), John Onyango.

Brother in law to Michael & Maria Mvati, Julius, Anna, Felister, Sabit, Juliana, Mbeyu, Machonge, Rachel, amongst others.

Nephew to Nathaniel Kiaye of Nyakach Koguta, Christina Odago of Kano Kochogo.

Cousin to the late Samuel Odero Kiaye, Abayo Kiaye, the late Deborah Guya & Walter Bala, amongst all others.

Nephews & nieces, Tony Ojosh, Janet Obara, Frederick Ochwata, Carl Onyango, Lawrence Obare,

Grandchildren, Nadia Were, Rania Were, Naeem Were, Navuri Olanda, Precious Ntulwe, Purity, Sasha & Christine.

A fundraising event will be held on 10th June, 2023 at Timolands Guest House in South B from 2.00pm.

The cortege will leave Star Mortuary – Kisumu, on 13th June, 2023 at 9:30am for a requiem mass at ACK St. Joseph Nyawara Church and later an overnight vigil at his home in Nyawara.

He will be laid to rest on 14th June, 2023 at his home in Nyawara.
