Edith Wangari Gitata

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of our beloved Mom, Mrs. Edith Wangari Gitata, after a short illness bravely fought.

Loving wife to the late Robert Gitata Gichohi. Mother to Charity Gathoni, Jeremy Gichohi, Ibrahim Kingori, Hezekiah Karanja, Gladys Mucoki, James Mwangi and Priscilla Rockrohr of Switzerland. Mother-in-law to the late Lucy Nduta Gichohi, Jane Nyawira Kingori, Rose Nyambura, Meg Njeri, James Mucoki of Texas USA and Peter Rockrohr.

Daughter of the late Ibrahim Kingori and the late Gladys Mbuki of Kiganjo Nyeri County. Sister to the late Eliud Gichohi, Priscilla Wanjiru, Evah Maina, the late Bernice Wachira, Grace Wachira and Phyllis Kirigo. Step-sister to Wanjiru, Mwangi, Muteru and Wangari.

Daughter-in-law to the late Mr. & Mrs Jeremiah Gichohi of Gitugi Village Othaya. Sister-in-law to Hezekiah Wangombe, the late Peter Kamaru, Prof. Paul Mbuthia, Mrs Margaret Kihara and Charles Muraya Senior; the late Solomon Mwatha, the late Millicent Wanjiku, the late Grace Kagure and Charles Muraya Junior.

Grandmother to Robert Gitata Nguthuko, Robert Gitata Gichohi, Dr. Grace Wangari Gichohi, Sasha Wangari, Robert Gitata and Jeremy Gichohi Mwangi, Bobby and Makayla Mucoki, Robert Gitata and Edith Wangari Kingori. Great grandmother to Jeremy Gichohi Gitata. Auntie to many. A friend and neighbor to many whom she touched in a very special way.

Relatives and friends are meeting daily at her residence.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday 12th June, 2022 at 3.00pm at Green Nest Garden, opposite K.I.S.T.

The cortege will leave MP Shah Hospital on 14th June, 2022 at 9.00am for a funeral service at PCEA Evergreen Church – Runda and thereafter burial at her residence off Kiambu Road, opposite KIST.
