Eng. Gideon Kaunga

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance that we announce the sudden death of Eng. Gideon Kaunga, which occurred on Friday April 16th, 2021 in Nairobi. He was a devoted father, loving husband, an Intellectual, brilliant engineer and architect with a steadfast adherence to a strict moral and ethical code.

He was son of the late Johana M’Lintari M’Manyara and the late Zipporah Ciabaithiria Kang’ondu of Anyilu Village, Miathene Location, Tigania West, Meru County. He was son-in-law to the late Gideon Ndwaru and the late Charity Mwonthea Ndwaru.

He is survived by his wife Betty Mwarania Kaunga. He was a devoted father to Anthony Mwencla, Jane Nkatha Nyabiosi, Kevin Murithi, Esther Karambu and Kennedy Mutethia. He was father-in-law to Becky Mwenda, Eric Nyabiosi, Rachel Muthoka and Edna Moraa. He extended his loving heart to many including among others Joy Wambui and other family members and friends. He was a proud grandfather to Bricklyn, Shay, Ruby, Joseph JR, Tamara. Sophia. Betty, Jessie and Kawira.

He was brother to Aterina Nculubi Kaunyangi, Veronika Kaliuntu Mwika, the late Thomas Murugu Akwalu, Mercy Nyeera Kimathi, Joel Thiaine and Janet Nkoroi Kaindio. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Kaunyangi, Jason Kimatiu, Karwirwa, Joel Kaindio, Muuima, Gatwiri, Dr Jason Mwenda among others. Uncle, cousin and friend to many. He took on many roles and loved without any borders.

Engineer Kaunga is currently lying at Montezuma Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service at 11am on Monday 26th April, 2021 at Montezuma Funeral Horne Chapel and the burial service will be held on Wednesday 28th April 2021 at his home in Miathene, Tigania West Meru County.
