1934 – 2022

First, we give thanks to God Almighty for his mercies and the many, many cherished years that He gave Dad … a blessed 88 and a half years.

Our family cannot find words enough to express how much your prayers, calls, messages, visits and generosity have meant to us. We appreciate all of you.

We specifically wish to thank Mum for remaining so positive and encouraging us all during these past weeks. She truly is our strength. To our Family – immediate & extended – we love and appreciate you immensely.You remain our anchor.

To our friends and colleagues, you have shown us that family does not necessarily equate to blood ties but also resides in the heart. Thank-you all for your support and friendship. Baraka tele.

We would also like to recognize & appreciate the Doctors and Medical Teams – you all guided and treated Dad with such precision and clarity: Dr. Bwika, Aga Khan University Hospital, Dr. Narveen and Dr. Mahapatra of MediHeal Hospital, Parklands.We are comforted by knowing that you did and gave your best. Thank-you and God bless you. To the Home Patient Caregivers, Nurse Maureen and her Team from MediHeal Hospital, you made Dad’s last 6 weeks bearable. God Bless and may the work of your hands continue to shine.Thank-you.

To the Church – Consolata Shrine Westlands, Fr. Jackson and Fr. Paul, the Capuchin Fransiscan Fathers, Fr. Arnold, Fr. Charles and Fr. Maranga- thank you for your prayers, Masses and humbly blessing Daddy with the Sacrament of the Sick. We are humbled. Please accept our sincere gratitude and may our good Lord’s grace continue to prosper through you. God bless you all. Masaku and Lucy at home, you played an important role in Dad’s daily life and we say, Asante Sana.

To Ndirangu and Kibandi (Dad’s “bodyguards” and “chauffers”): thank-you for all the years you watched over Daddy, ensuring that he travelled safely, driving him with respect and honour. We do not take your service for granted. Please accept our sincere appreciation.

AND to all those who hold us close and continue to support us in whatever way, we, the family of Ephantus K. Gathuri, wish you all God’s continued favour and ask that you humbly accept this our heartfelt gratitude.
