Ephantus Thairu Gacheru

It is with great sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Ephantus Thairu Gacheru on 26th September 2022 at Olive Hill Surgical Centre Nyeri following a long battle with cancer.

Son of the late Jotham Gacheru Buuri and late Lydia Muringi Gacheru and Step-son to Shelmith Nduta. Son-in-law to then late Benson Mavutta and Charity Wambogo.

Husband to the late Kellen Thairu. Father to Catherine Muthanje and Julius Gacheru. Guardian to Caroline Murugi Ireri. Father-in-law to Solomon Mathathi and Mercy Mutave.

Brother to the late Mercy Njeri Kihagi, Joyce Muthoni Maina, Ephraim Wambutu, the late Leah Wanjiru Karoki, Wilson Ngari, Johnson Gichina, Charity Wanja Miano and Nancy Njoki Mungai. Step-brother to Patricia Njeri Ndiang’ui, Lydia Gathoni Muchemi, Julia Wanjiru Macharia, Ethan Buuri, Purity Wambui, Alice Njoki Kibui, and late Winfred Wambugo.

Brother-in-law to David Kinyua, Mary Rwamba, John Nyaga, Jane Wanja, the late Stanley Kivutti, Rose Wawira and Albert Njue. Grandfather to Ryan Thairu, Kellen Wangui, Nathaniel Thairu, Ethan Mathathi and many others. He was an uncle to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Karatina along Karatina —Kerugoya Highway Opposite Oldoiyo Hotel.

The cortege leaves Jamii Hospital Mortuary, Karatina on Wednesday, 5th October 2022 at 7.00am. Funeral service will be at A.C.K Emmanuel Church, Karatina followed by burial at his home.
