We the family of the late Gladys Naini Maingi wish to thank the Almighty God for the wonderful gift of our beloved wife, mother and yuyu.

We offer our most heartfelt gratitude to the many family, friends and well-wishers who visited us in Botswana, Canada, lsiolo, Kikuyu, Nairobi and Meru. Words cannot express our deepest appreciation to those of you who provided us with emotional support, practical and financial support, those who called, travelled long distances, made time for us, sent tributes and messages of condolences, prayed for us and showered us with outpouring love. Asanteni Sana!

Special thanks go to the planning committees in Nairobi, Isiolo and Meru. To mum’s doctors; Dr. Bundi Karau, Dr. Genga, Dr M. D Maina, Hematology Oncologists; Prof. Atinga, Orthopedic Surgeon; Dr Chakaya. Chest Specialist; Dr Kisyoka, Cardiologist and Dr Musoke, General Physician. The entire staff and management of Nairobi Hospital. Special thanks to the Ward Nurses of Nairobi Hospital – Sisters Jackie. Florence, Nicole and all the other ward nurses for their diligent care. The Admission Nurse Sister Ngunjiri for always coming through during mum’s in-patient admissions, the Cancer center nurses – Lacton & Julius who ensured mum’s comfort as treatment was being administered. To the administration support staff at Nairobi Hospital – Frida & Karimi, for the support during the many billing processes. NHIF Admin staff at Nairobi Hospital – Mwangi & Prest, for ensuring Mum’s approvals for treatment were always on time.

Mr.Ahmed Hussein Ahmed, chairman of Kenya Association of Retired Officers. “Sister Betty’- for being a special gift to mum.Taking wonderful care, with love and compassion, so patient with her, and an amazing understanding of her every need. We cannot thank you enough. May God meet you at your every need.

The Jumuia of St Kizito Kikuyu, led by the Moderator and Chairman Mr Kimani, for being there for mum in her iourney of faith, and the men of the jumuia for being there for dad. Visiting with and encouraging the family through prayers.

Mum’s former work colleagues at GIZ and the Potato Council of Kenya, Meru county government for supporting mum’s efforts to impact community through agriculture, policy formulation in potatoes and mangoes farming and supporting representations in national agricultural institutions. The Excel Sisters – mum’s Girls Club that goes ‘waay’ back – for being mum’s lasting friend over the years, you were her board table, a support system we can emulate.The many Blood Donors who came to support us through blood donations, May you continue saving lives.

Father Anthony Mwituria for conducting the last mass dedicated for mum – we remember how much she looked forward to that day, how she glowed with excitement on that day, how she was the first one ready: Many thanks for making her day. Consolata Shrine, the Church that mum loved. many thanks for the beautiful requiem and celebratory mass. Sc. Mary Church, Limbine, Meru, led by Father Lawrence Murwiri for a very befitting funeral service and last rites. Shout out to all our (fiends and relatives in Kenya and beyond Mutwiri’s friends in Canada and The US, Gitonga’s friends In Botswana, for the support you have shown them in the difficult moments hardened by the distance. Shukrani Kwenyu Nyote!

As we may not manage to thank each one of you individually, please accept this message as an expression of our deepest gratitude. As we seek to move forward, as urged by our Patriarch. Mr. D.L Maingi, we know it will be difficult, but we are comforted by knowing that Nyako as she was fondly called by Mzee will continue to live in all of us.

Eternal Rest Grant unto Naini O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the soul of our beloved Naini, through the Mercy of God Rest in Peace.
