Hellena Ciantaba Kanyinga

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing on of Hellena Ciantaba Kanyinga following a long battle with cancer, which she fought off with prayers and courage.

She was beloved wife of the late Philip Noruru Kanyinga. She was the mother of Salome Gitura (formerly of Embu Hospital), Professor Karuti Kanyinga (IDS, University of Nairobi) and Dr. Susan Karuti, Cletus Kanyinga and Jane Kagendo; Jerremy Kirimi and Judith Kagwiria; Bruno Murungi and Conso Murungi; Nathans Gitonga (Mikinduri Girls), and Charit Riiri Gitonga; and Evans Mwiti Kanyinga (Kenya Revenue Authority, Nairobi) and Betty Wanja (Stanchart Bank); and also Magdalene Gakii, Joseph Kimathi (Race Course, Nairobi), Silas Kaberia, Delphine Karimi, Gladys Kathuure, Prisca Kabirithu and Phenias Mukaria.

She was a co-wife to Julieta Karei.

She was Grandmother to many and Great-grandmother to Ethan Karani; and Taraji Karani.

She was sister to Angelica Karei, James Mwaruka, Kirianki Imanyara (Cooperative University of Kenya), Amedeo Mung’athia, Kaulo, Kathao; Hon. Mathew Karauri (former Tigania MP), Ciamaunduru, Gakula and Silas Mwilaria.

Mama Hellena Ciantaba will be laid to rest on Saturday 25th March, 2023 at her home in Andune Village, Athwana Sub-location, Mikunduri,Tigania East. Final prayers will be at Mikinduri Centre Parish (adjacent to Mikinduri Girls) and final resting will be at Andune Village.
