John Joseph Mburu Kamatu (Msamaria)

1942 – 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Joseph Mburu Kamatu (Msamaria), on 31st May, 2023.

He was the second-born son to the late Naftali Kamatu and the late Damaris Wacu and Mary Gakenyi of Ngemwa, Ikinu, Kiambu.

Husband to Lucy Wairimu and Jane Wanjiku. A doting father to the late Julius Kamatu, Damaris Wacu, Martin Mwangi, Winifred Wambui, Daniel Mwathe, Jackline Wacu, Serail Wangari and Minneh Wairimu.

Father-in-law to Serah Kamatu, the late Peter Chege and Maureen Wangeci.

Grandfather to Carol, Stacy, Ngugi, Shiku, Teresia, Mburu, Brian, Michael, Jeanna and Faleen. Great-grandfather to Jayden, Jason and Gianna.

Brother to the late Ephraim Kamau Kamatu, the late George Nduati, Boniface Wathiari, Patrick Munene, Moses Watuku, Rosemary Wanyoike and Rev. David Kamatu. He was an uncle, and friend to many.

Family and friends are meeting everyday at his family home.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home – Mbagathi, on Friday, 9th June, 2023 at 7.00am for a church service and burial ceremony at his home in Ngemwa, Ikinu, Kiambu at 10.00am.
