John Kunya Nyamu

10th October, 1957 — 5th September, 2023

With thanksgiving to the Almighty God for the gift of life for 65 years,. we, the family of John Kunya Nyamu, announce his passing on the morning of 5 September, 2023.

He was the eldest son of the late Habel John Nyamu and the late Jessie Muthoni Nyamu. Step-son of the late Eunice Nyamu and Dr. Florence Nyamu.

Husband of Sibongile Ellen Nyamu. Father of Caroline Wangeci and James Kinyanjui. Step-father of Lucy Wanjiru Gitau, Nyambura Gitau, Mboneni Mthente and Nduna Jnr. Father-in-law of Cheryn Kariuki. Grandfather of Cameron Mwai, Step-grandfather of Maryann Wambui. Alexander Gorter. Jesse Gitau, Mary Wambui and Joy W-aniiku.

Beloved brother of Anne Marie Nyamu, Joy Mutero, Irene Muriithi, Ruth Lubembe, Nguru Nyamu, Amos Kimani, Ann Nieri. Linda Nyamu. Noni Ocholi. Chris Nyamu, Nancy Omondi, Irene Kiragu and Caroline Kiragu.

Brother-in-law of Fana, Makhoba, Phathi, Ntombikayise, Nompumelo, Clifford Muterojohn Murtithi, Emmanuel Lubernbe, Rachael Nguru, Mary Kimani, Francis Omondi, Michael Ocholi and Wycliffe Omondi. He was a cherished nephew, cousin, uncle and friend of many.

There will be a prayer meeting for family and friends on Wednesday 13th September, 2023 at 5.00pm at Christ Church, Westlands (off Rhapta Road).

A memorial service will be held in Nairobi on Thursday 21st September, 2023, followed by burial in Kirinyaga County on Friday 22nd September, 2023. Venues and times for the service and interment will be announced shortly.

Psalm 23:44 —”Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over Surety goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
