Judith Atero Ochieng’

 26th June, 1966 — 8th March, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the untimely death of our beloved Mrs. Judith Atero Ochieng’, which occurred on the 8th March, 2023 after a short illness. Until her death she was the Deputy Principal of St. Christopher Ayweyo Secondary School.

Daughter of the late Senior Chief Noah Omukamani Shibukule Ambunya and the late Mwalimu Penina Waswa Ambunya of Ingotse Village, North Butsotso Location, Navakholo Sub-county, Kakamega County. Daughter-in-law to Helekiah Opiyo Ochira and the late Dorcas Ngadi and Carolyne ofTuraVillage, Kakola Sub-location, Nyando Sub-county, Kisumu County.

Wife of John G. Ochieng’ Opiyo. Mother to Penina Waswa Ochieng’ (Mamii) and Trisha Gorddad Oronga. Grandmother to Tessie Judith Atero.

Sister to Roselynn Oronga Esonga, the late Ruth Amwayi Lubanga, Jonathan Shiyuka, the late Lilian Mandera, Howard Ambunya, Abiude Waeme and Joy Baraza Ambunya.

Sister-in-law to Charles Esonga Onduso, the late Joseph Lubanga, the late Horipa Nabakwe, Joyce Mideva, Miriam Obare,Alexina Bulinda,Anne Ongare, Sellah Opiyo, Dan Obote and Florence Akinyi, Pamela Opiyo, Elsa Awino, Josephine Awuor, Philip Omondi and Everlyn Akinyi, the late Diana Aketch and the late George Opiyo.

Niece and cousin to the Ambunya’s, Mutsoli’s, Waeme’s Malala’s, Washiali’s, Wabuti’s, Machio’s, Aleka’s, Matara’s, Wawire’s, Oyalo’s. Okova’s, Olaka’s, Wechuli’s and Wafula’s. She was an aunt to many.

The cortege will leave Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral and Teaching Hospital Mortuary, Kisumu on Thursday, 23rd March, 2023 at 9.00am for an overnight vigil at her home in Tura Village. The funeral service and burial ceremony will take place on Friday, 24th March, 2023 at Tura Village from 10.00am.
