Lucy Wanjiku Gathondu

It is with deep sorrow and acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Lucy Wanjiku Gathondu which occurred at Nairobi West Hospital, on 30th December 2021 after a long illness bravely borne.

Daughter of the late David Thumbi Ngathia and Rosemary Wanjiru from Githiga, Muranga. Beloved wife of Charles Gathondu Gichuki (Ruai) formerly of Ministry of Lands & Physical Planning. Dear mom of David & Zipporah Thumbi, Grace Gathondu & James Mwaura and Dennis Gathondu. Sister of the late Jane Wang’oe, Eudius Kuria, Elvis Njuguna, Johnson Macharia, Kimani Thumbi and Hannah Njoki. Step-sister of Humphrey Macharia, Catherine Wanjiru among others. Loving grandmother of Hope Wanjiku, Najael Gathondu, Joy Wangari, Nolan Njoroge, Joshua Gathondu, Hansel Njoroge, Liam Gathondu and Naila Ngima.

Funeral arrangements are ongoing at her Ruai, Bondeni home.

There will be a requiem mass at her Ruai home on Tuesday, 4th January 2022 starting 6pm.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home (Kenol/Kabati) on Thursday, 6th January  2022 at 6:30am. Funeral mass will be held at Kihuti Secondary School grounds, Mukurweini, Nyeri county starting 10am followed by burial at her husband’s home nearby.
