Maama Catherine Luturu Akotha
It is with full acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to Glory of our beloved family matriarch, a committed Christian and a Church Leader, from Limbine Parish of Catholic Diocese of Meru; a pillar of development and a mother of our community; Maama Catherine Luturu Akotha of Katheru village, Athwana ward, Tigania West Sub-county, Meru County.
Maama Catherine Luturu Akotha who passed on at the age of 82, was the last-born daughter of the late M’Ataya and the late Rosina Kalingu. Beloved wife to the late Retired Assistant Chief Francis M’Akotha M’Minyori. Mother to the late Dr. Tarcisius Kobia & Rebecca Kobia (IEBC), the late Silas Miriti, Consolata. Kaimuri – Tata (Meru County) & Joseph Mwika (SCPC Kirinyaga – West) Damian Lwala (CARE-South Sudan) & Mercy Ndegwa (AAR Insurance – Kenya), Roseann Kinya -Rosa (Akithii Clinic) & Gerald Gitonga (MoH, Meru), Cosmas Mweti (Meru) & Monica Kajuju Mweti (Meru), Fr. Raphael Pio Gitonga (Dominican Friars-Rome), Francesca Muthoni (Akithii Clinic) & Wallace Mugambi (Businessman – Ngundune), Anastacia Kagwiria (Riara Parish, Kiambu) & Joseph Karuri (German school-Nairobi) and Nunzia Atula (Meru) & Vincent Marwa (Sirare). Sister to the late Eusebius M’Itimitu and the late Domiziano Kirau. A beloved aunt to many among them Major (Rtd) Andrew Nkiiri, Naftali M’Erathi, Marina Ngeera, Mauricia Kalingu and Susan Kiale, among others. She was a doting grandmother to 20 & a great-grandmother to 5.
The cortege leaves St. Theresa’s Mission Hospital – Kiirua Mortuary, for Holy Mass and burial at her farm in Katheru Village, Kuani Sub-location, Athwana Location, Tigania West, Meru County, on 5th March, 2021, at 11:00am.
May the Almighty God rest her in eternal Peace.
