It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of Major (Rtd) Mathew Mweu Kakenyi (Matei), which occurred on 04* January, 2024 after a long illness bravely borne.

Loving husband to Susan Mwelu Mweu of the Immigration Department. Devoted Father to Georgina Mueni Mweu and Crystal Munyiva Mweu.

Son of the late Brigadier Peter Kakenyi and the late Reginah Munyiva Kakenyi and Lydia Kakenyi.

Brother to Salome Muthiani (USA), the late Vine Kirby (UK), Angela & Stephen Mbaabu, the late Romana Steffen, Thomas Kakenyi, Clement Kakenyi, Lucy Kakenyi (Germany), Gloria Kiilu, Mueni Maluki and Veronica Katiti.

Son-in-law to Stephen and Patricia Malinda of Mbooni.

Nephew to Col. (Rtd) Michael Mutua, the late Ann Mukonyo, Ndumi Kasango, the late Gregory Mulinge, the late Peninah and Agnes Mulinge, Syowia Kasoja, the late John Marko Kakenyi and Brigid Mbatha Kakenyi, Joseph and
Faith Kakenyi (Fadhili Group of Schools), Katunge, the late Kamami and Kaluki, Kiloko, Monica and the late Tabitha Kanyua.

Brother-in-law to Sam & Faith Barchok, Caroline Musau (UK), Luke and Josephine Malinda and Evans Musau.

Cousin to Benardette Kakenyi Midwa, Chrisostom Kakenyi (Australia), Margaret & Solomon (Radar), Matilda Mutevu, Georgina Mulinge, Joan Juma, Norman Kasoja, Steve Kakenyi, Kenneth Muoki, Angeline Mutinda (Denmark), Charles Kitema, the Kyengos (Kibwezi), Muindis (wote), Mutuas, Kivuvos (KDO), among others. He was an uncle to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at MOW Club (Ministry of Works) South C – Nairobi from 5:30pm daily.

There will be a main fund raising harambee on Wednesday 10th January, 2024 from 5:30pm at the same venue.

The cortege leaves Lee Funeral Home on Friday 12th January, 2024 at 2:00pm for an overnight vigil at his farm in Lukenya, Mavoko Sub-County, Machakos County thereafter, there will be Mass nd burial rites on Saturday 13th January, 2024 at 9:30am at the same farm.

2nd Timothy 4:7 ~ “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
