We, the family of the late Mama Dorina Omukanda Marende (amongst others, Mzee Eliud Marende – Former Councillor, Hon. Kenneth Marende, EGH – Speaker Emeritus and the entire family) wish to express our utmost appreciation and gratitude for the prayers, all kind acts, love, messages of condolences and support following the demise of our dear Mum, Mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, great grandmother and friend, Dorina Omukanda Marende.

We especially want to thank those who were able to join us at St Stephen’s (Hattiko) ACK Church and our Luanda Township home for memorial services.

Your wonderful support enabled us to give Mama a honourable and dignified send off. Our particular thanks go to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta CGH, the President of the Republic of Kenya, for his generous support, message of condolences and commiseration.

We also thank the Right Hon. Prime Minister Raila Odinga CGH, for the tremendous goodwill and material support.

Our deep appreciation and acknowledgement go to those who were with us both physically and virtually as we bid farewell to Mama and laid her to rest.

Our special thanks to Dr. Fred Matiang’i – CS Interior and Coordination of National Government and Hon Eugene Wamalwa – CS Defence, Governors Excellencies Wycliffe Oparanya – Kakamega; Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o – Kisumu; Major (Rtd) Dhadho Godhana-Tana River and Dr. Wilber Ottichilo – Vihiga, Western Region Honourable Members of Parliament led by Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, the Nairobi team of friends led by Phillip Kisia, the legal fraternity chaperoned by Dr. Ken Nyaundi and the Marende greater family.

We salute our men and women in uniform from the National Police Service and the National Youth Service.

Your presence made positive difference. We recognize and acknowledge the outstanding spiritual support that we received from the clergy across all denominations shepherded by The Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, Archbishop ACK, Rt Rev. Bishop Charles Asilutwa – Maseno, and Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Wandera – Mumias, the ACK St. Stephens (Hattiko) Church, other Bishops and the entire Clergy, all church choirs and the ACK’s Mother’s Union, for honouring Mama in so dignified a manner.

Our many thanks to Mama’s longtime physicians Dr. Busakhala – Eldoret and Clinical Officer Fred Wekesa. We are also grateful to St. Luke’s Hospital – Kisumu – for the professional short term nursing care, and Mama’s patient selfless care giver Pauline Wanjala.

Accepting that it’s not possible to reach or remember every one of you, who stood with us individually, please accept this our very sincere
appreciation to you.

May God bless us all and may Mama’s soul rest in peace
