It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved and precious mama Joyce Achieng Okwany (Minfi), on 4th March. 2023 at Aga Khan Hospital – Kisumu, after a short illness.

Daughter of the late Grace and Ambalo Musewe.

Loving wife of the late John Walter Okwany. Devoted mother to the late Beatrice Adhiambo Okwany, Rosemelle Anyango Mutoka, Awino Okwany (Texas.USA). Professor AumaOkwany (Netherlands), Booker & Pamela Okwany (Texas, USA), Danstone Okwany & Cynthia Okwany, Grace Akinyi Okwany (Vihiga Law Courts), Beatrice Ndeda Okwany.

Mother-in-law to the late Dickson Mutoka, Gentle Okodo. Stephen Adol. Doting grandmother of the late Omoodi, Judy, Diana & Ben, Stephen & Sophie; the late Brian, Joyce, Stephanie, Subira, Oki, Nikki, Challa, Teeke, Joy Zawadi, Tuji, Kwaji, Hawi, Nelly Lulu and Oki. Great-grandmother of lan, Ayana, Salmi, Neema, Taji, Loch.

Sister of Nelly Atieno, Beatrice Kitoto, Wilson Ofuma, the late Nelson Okweya and Erastus Radak. Aunty, Friend, Mentor and Other Mother to Maurice, Daisy and many more.

Her abundant love, great wisdom and generosity will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and community.

There will be a fundraising at the All Saints Cathedral Church, Nairobi on Wednesday 15th March 2023 at 5.00pm to assist in offsetting hospital and funeral costs.

A memorial service Will also be held at All Saints Cathedral on the 17th March, 2023 at 2.00pm.

The funeral will be held on 25th March, 2023 at her home in Jera, Ugenya.
