Mama Mary Aoko Ogwang

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Mama Mary Aoko Ogwang.

She was daughter to the late Gideon Malit JaKanyipir and the late Beldina Opere, the late Leah Oyundi and the late Margaret Okundi. She was a sister to the the late Tabitha Oduya Ojala, the late Samuel Ouso, Esther Auko Dwallo and Moses Ware, Shadrack Ouya, the late Jennifer Omwono & others, the late Beldina Babu, Benjamin Awino & others.

She was wife to the late George Timon Ogwang. Mother to the late Beatrice Atieno, the late Alice Ojjerro, the late Patrick. Josephine Obiero, Edward Ochieng, Kenneth Odhiambo Ogwang (USA), the late Shadrack Omondi, the late Oscar Juma, Florence Asiyo, Lydia Awuor Oduor, Nancy Minoyeng Awi, the late Patrick Okoth, Dr. Stephen Sigungu {USA), Judith Achieng and Simeon Oluoch (UK).

Her co-wives were the late Rosebella Ogwang and the late Francisca Ogwang. Her other children are Lillian Ronga, Marsh Pamela Wavomba, Phoebe Odhiambo {USA), the late Eunice Siage, Halorine Achieng, Kennedy Otieno, Calvin Pamba (Denmark), Mildren Awino (USA), Martin Onyango (Sweden),Wycliffe Ochola {UK), the late Frank Okinyi, Richard Ndong and Vanessa Achieng (USA).

She was a daughter-in-law to the late Zablon Ochola, Prescillla Osano Ochola and Filgona Ochola.She was a sister in law to the late Dr. Samuel Abuna Ochola, Elisha Ochola (USA), Philip Ochola (USA), the late Hanna Omondo, the late Akumu Adawo, the late Nyakuru, the late Teresa Abuto, Salome, Eukabeth Dudi, the late Michal, the late Achiro, Japheth Ochola, the late Robert Ochola, Joyce Atieno, Owino Ochola, Monica Ochola, Esther Ouso, Rebecca Ware and others.

She was mother in law to Martin Ojjerro, the late Kennedy Obiero, Scola Obwar (USA), Mary Mutindi Muema, George Oduor Odinga, Paul Awi, the late George Ronga, Emmanuel Nakita re, the late Siage, Hon. Martin Odhiambo (Wuod Chief) and others.

Her grandchildren are Cheryl, Eric, Mary Brenda,Asenath,Timmy Ojjerro, Kylie, Kimberly, George Wenda, Ian, Nigel, Ceci, Timon, Deborah, Natalie, Grace, Zawadi, Samuel, Ratemo, Bill, Paul, Mary, Beatrice, Adeline, Georgianna and others.

Her great grandchildren are Hawa, Safia, Nabila Opon, Teeroy, Elam, Hanani, Coby, Miles and others.

She was an aunt to Ouma, Lydia, Amb. Dan McDwallo, Dorcas, Sylvester, Lillian, Jacky, Eunice, Maureen,Willis, Elijah, Anne, Lilian, Joao, Theodore, Robert, Akoth, Benjamin, Young, Maggy, Pamela, Caroline, Lyn, Pombo, Jimmy, David, and others.

Relatives and friends are meeting daily at her Harambee residence in Nairobi.

There will be a memorial service at Jericho SDA Church on Sunday, 30 July 2023 from 2.00pm.

A fundraiser will be held at the same venue thereafter.

The cortege will leave Gendia Hospital Mortuary, Homabay County on Thursday, 3 August 2023 for burial at her home in Kendubay Oriang’ Manywanda. Burial will take place at her home on Friday, 4 August 2023.
