Mama Philomena Mutelwa Barasa

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of Mama Philomena Mutelwa Barasa on 20th October, 2022 after a long illness.

Daughter to the late Joseph Mate and Rita Muhabi. Beloved wife to the late Nicholas Barasa Akwata. Mother to Daniel Mukhaya, Beatrice Lambisia, H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa – Governor Kakamega County, Simon Barasa, Melisa Barasa, Justus Barasa, Judith Barasa and Silas Barasa. Step-mother to Kevin Barasa and Cyprian Barasa.

Mother-in-law to Willy Lambisia, Prof. Janet Nasambu Barasa – First Lady Kakamega County, Fiona Ong’ato, the late Ernest Makokha, Mary Musehenga, Geoffrey Wafula and Hellen Oteng’o.

Sister to the late Clement, Angeline, Felisters, Fabian, Consolata, Richard, Mary, Antony, the late Pamela, josephat and Agatha. Sister-in-law to the late Marsela, the late Cyprian, Florence, James, Benjamin, Fabiano, Christine, the late Alfred, Sylvanus, Everlyne, Mary, the late Hellen, the late Eric, Gladys, Julia and Sebencia.

The cortege leaves Kakamega County Funeral Parlor on Sunday 30th October, 2022 at 1:00pm for a requiem mass at St. Luke’s Catholic Church – Bumini (3:00pm) and thereafter a vigil at her Khabondi home. Funeral mass will be held on Monday 31st October, 2022 from 8:00am at Muroni Primary School grounds and thereafter burial at Khabondi village, East Wanga Ward, Mumias East Sub-county, Kakamega County.
