Maricella Nekesa Wekesa

The family of the late Mzee Joseph Wekesa is sad to announce the death of their beloved matriarch Maricella Nekesa Wekesa which occurred on Nov 27, 2020 after a short illness.

Mama Maricella was daughter to the late Wakhisi Wamukota and Mizpah Nakhanu of Baraki village and wife to the late Joseph Ferrin Wekesa. She was sister to the late A. Buyela, the late Susana N, Thomas Wasike, the late Humphrey Kuto, S. Wanambuko, the late Joan Mulongo, P. Wanyonyi and the late Dinnah Mukhwana. She was daughter-in-law to Abraham Wabwoba and Rose Namarome.

She was mother of Juliana Nafula, Dr Patrick Wanyonyi Wekesa (formerly of KALRO), Anna Nangekhe, Elizabeth Malemo of Canada, Moses Musumba Wekesa (Sango-Tausi) of Langiatz Junior Academy, David Kurima, Samuel Nyukuri, Rose Sabani, Pamela Nabututu (Lang’ata Junior Academy) and John Mukhekhe. She was the mother-in-law to the late Peter Juma, Mutambo Khaukha, Capt Armstrong Malemo of Canada, Moses Mupala, Sister Metrin Kichana, Sarah Musumba, Jacklyn Musumba, Salome Kurima, the late Rahab Kundu and Sarah Mukekhe.

She was grandmother to: Samson `Sambu’, Odera, Omondi, Odhiambo, Akinyi, the late Belinda, Christine, Brenda Wekesa (KRA), Mizpah-Anne, Naomi Wekesa (MoH), Joseph Wekesa, Pst Selina K Nzioka (House of Solutions, Nairobi), the late Dorine, Emmanuel, Cpt Gabriel Mutambo (Salvation Army), Aggrey Mutambo (Nation Media Group), Wataka, Lilian Wafula (Absa Bank Mombasa), Brigid Wekesa (House of Hope, Machakos), Brenda, Wenje, Paul, Joseph Musumba, Betsy, Evelyn, Newton, Dalton, Aldrin ‘Boss’, Godlin, Abigael, Margritta, Emmanuel Wekesa, Winston, Karen, Leah, Joseph, Simon and Valarie. Mama Maricella was blessed with more than 30 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

The cortege will leave Cherengany Nursing Home Mortuary, Kitale on Dec 4, 2020 for an overnight vigil at her home at Kiminini Scheme, Plot 318, Kiminini location, Tabani Sub-location (Bungoma County). Funeral will be on Saturday, Dec 5, 2020 at her home.
