It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of our Matriarch Mama Ida Akong’o Oyunga, that occurred 12/03/2022, while undergoing treatment.
Daughter of the late Norbetus Sewe and the late Maria Sewe.
Wife to the late Ladislaus Leo Oyunga. Sister to the late Patrick Oduor Sewe, the late Agnes Sewe, the late Seno Sewe, AnnaJura, Susan Owino and the late Andrew Opiyo.
Sister-in-law to Enos Jura. Mother to Clement Oyunga (Chrisco), Mary Oyunga (KALRO), Anthony Oyunga (Siaya), Patrick Oyunga (Matrix Engineering), Margaret Nyabola (Otieno Oyoo School), Vincent Oyunga (NYS Engineering), Beatrice Ngare (Nyan’gori Boys’), Frederick Oyunga (KIE – Mombasa), the late Caroline Omamo, John Oyunga (Siaya), the late Irene Oyunga, Edwin Oyunga (ALS – Wilson), Wycliffe Oyunga (Australia), Julius Oyunga (Trinity Blend Limited), Edward Oyunga (EACC), Jemimah Oyunga (Rang’ala Girls), Jacqueline Odhiambo (Kisumu) and the late Atieno Oyunga.
Mother-in-law to Elizabeth Onyiego, Felister Oyunga, Francis Nyabola, Mary Ombogo, Caleb Ngare, Clemente Oyunga, Phyllis Oyunga, Miriam Oyunga,Terry Oyunga, acky Oyunga and Tom Odhiambo. Auntie to Celine, Awuor, Millicent, Sylvester, Betty, Mandela, Mtei, Silver, Vicky, Otieno, Obadha, Anyango,Achieng,Akuka, Nancy, among others.
Grandmother to Jeremiah Baraka, Ruby, Sandra,Aluoka, Leo, George, Austin, Kevin, Noelle, Jeannette, Sonia, Michael, Reagan, Castro, Joan, Myra, Leroy, Joanne, Annabel, Patrick, Ricky, Benjamin, Joshua, Keziah, Master Omamo, Keittah, Christian, Amani, Hawi, Geno, Damian, Ariana, Cheryl,Warren and Yisrael. Great-grandmother to lyanu, Baraka, Imani, Jabari, Zakiah, Praize, Lorgan, Kieran, Reuben, Zulani, Ryan, Jamai, Ethan, Favour, Love, Liam, Keirran and Kaylee.
Family and Friends are meeting in Kisumu and at her home in Siaya.
The cortege departs The Star Hospital Mortuary – Kisumu on Wednesday 23/03/2022, for a church service in Mbaga Parish – Siaya County.
The funeral service takes place on Thursday 24/03/2022, at her home in Lwala K’oudia Village, Mulaha Sub-location, Siaya County.

Your dad was our domestic bursar at Egerton College them years. Your mum was a Patriarch having brought this large family up. I highly respected them. Let them rest in peace 🙏 🕊. I am brother to late Dr. Orie.
