Monica Awinja Obati

Sunrise: 22nd November, 1938 – Sunset: 21st June, 2023 

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on to glory of Monica Awinja Obati on 21st June 2023.

She was wife to the late Nehemiah Shikuku Obati and mother to Dickson Obati, the late Grace Aswani Obati, and David and Millie Obati.

Monica was the daughter of the late Luca Shire Atema and the late Robai Nacheri. Sister to the late Edward Atema, Joyce Lukoye, the late Festus Shangala, the late Elizabeth Owano and Meshack Atema.

Grandmother to PJ Ngigi, Nemmy Ngigi and Joy Ndubai, Yvonne Awinja and Dennis Maina, Michelle Nyaruai, Elie Shikuku, Nemmy Shikuku, Nina Nacheri and Alicia Shieunda.

A final meeting will be held on Wednesday 5th July at CITAM Valley Road from 6:00pm.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday 6th July 2023 from 2:00pm at CITAM Karen.

The cortege will leave Montezuma Funeral Home on Friday 7th July at 8:00am for an overnight stay at her Shihonga Village home in Butere Sub County, Shiatsala Division, Manyala Location, Ebukuti Sub Location. The funeral service will be held at the family home on Saturday 8th July 2023 from 10:00am.
