Mrs Hellen Gitiri Mugo (Mwalimu)

We celebrate the life of Mrs Hellen Gitiri Mugo (Mwalimu) proprietor and director, Hillstar Academy who was called to heaven on 20th July 2019. She was a long serving Principal of Mugoiri Girls High School and thereafter Deputy Director of Education, Murang’a County.

Hellen was the loving wife of Mr Paul Mugo Macharia and the daughter of the late Peter Karuma Guthera and the late Faith Njeri Guthera of Kahuro village. Hellen was the mother of Elsie Betty Wanjiru, Lillian Catherine Njeri, Mary Teresa and Alex Ndung’u, Nancy and Bernard Matimu, Francis and Lucy Chehe Macharia, Maina Mugo and Janet, Catherine and Peter Maina, Anna Muhithe and Rose and Stephen Kinuthia.

She was the only sister to Captain Nelson Patrick Baiyu and a sister in-law to many. She leaves behind 26 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. An advocate for family and unity, Mrs Hellen Mugo was a great mother, teacher and friend to many.

Prayers are being held today Tuesday 23rd July and Wednesday 24th July at 5:30pm at her children’s home in Ridgeways and on Thursday 25th July and Friday 26th July at All Saints Cathedral Nairobi at 5:30pm. Friends and family are also meeting daily in the afternoon at her home in Gitaro village, Mugoiri location in Murang’a county for prayers.

There will be a requiem mass on Saturday 27th July 2019 at 3:00pm at the home in Ridgeways.

The cortege will leave Lee Funeral Home on Monday 29th July 2019 at 6:00am for a funeral mass at Mugoiri Catholic Parish Church at 10:00am and thereafter interment shall follow at her home in Gitaro village, Mugoiri location.
