We regret to announce the promotion to glory of Mwalimu Peter Karanja Chege, retired lay-leader of ACK St Peter’s Church — Kibutha, Murang’a.

He was the husband of the late Hellen Njeri Karanja. The son of the late Mr Chege Karanja Kahumbura and the late Mary Wangari Chege.

He was the father of: the late Gerald Chege Ngoti, Edward Kogi, David Kairu, Mary Wangari (USA), John Kiberu (USA), Andrew Gathura and Lucy Wanjiru Mungai.

Father-in-law of Jane Njoki Kogi, Agnes Wangari Kiberu and Mungai Kihanya. He was the grandfather of: Helen Njeri Kogi, Esther Njeri Kogi, Helen Njeri Kairu, Morine Wangui Kairu, Collins Karanja Kairu, Melissa Njeri (USA), Ivy Njeri (USA), Eric Karanja Kiberu (USA), Marc Karanja (UK), Ted Chege (UK), Kihanya Mungai, Wanjiru Mungai, and Karanja Mungai. Great-grandfather of Xolahni Karanja (UK).

Family and friends are meeting daily at his home in Kibutha Village from 4pm and in Nairobi at Holy Family Basilica on Wednesday 20th April and Thursday 21st April from 5:30pm.

The cortege will leave the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital mortuary (Northern By-Pass Road) on Tuesday April 26th at 7 am for a service at ACK St Peter’s Church Kibutha and funeral at his home.
