Mzee Anthony Okumu Onyango

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of Mzee Anthony Okumu Onyango which occurred on 26th August 2023 after a short illness.

Son of the late Mama Cecilia Agutu and the late Kasmil Okumu of Gem Kathomo, Dienya Sub-location, Siaya County. Brother to the late Rosa Adikinyi, the late Annah Abonyo and the late Susana.

Husband to the late Elizabeth Ondijo, Lynah Apiyo and Risper Akinyi. Father to Wilfrida Okumu, Charles Ooko, Carolyn Okul, the late Benard Okech, Paul Aggrey Odhiambo, Virginia Adongo,the late Veronica Apiyo, Eddah Achieng, Philip Owiti, the late Bill Onyango, Jennipher Akinyi, Rita Adhiambo, Jacqueline Aoko, Beryl Achieng, Christopher Ouma, Catherine Atieno, Everlyn Anyango, ecilia Agutu, Roselida Akoth, late Brian Odhiambo,Vera Atieno, Austine Oluoch, Valarie Achieng, Maurine Awuor and Don Owino.

Son-in-law to the late Timotheo and Beldina Ombayo of Seme Kadinga, the late Daniel and Jane Onudi of Kisumu Karateng and the late Elishaphan and Jennifer Okun of Karachuonyo, Kamser Ngeta.

Father-in-law to the late Larry Okumu, the late Hellen Apiyo, the late Ruth Ooko. Erastus Okul, Everlyn Odhiambo, Ross Tindi, Aggrey Okoth, the late Richard Opudo, Thaddeus Ager, Kennedy Owuoth, Auko McOmondi, William Dianga, John Owenga, Steven Otieno, Jim Burns, Fidel Castro and Martin.

Brother-in-law to Norbert Otieno, Aloys Ombayo, Charles Otieno, Mathew Ombayo, Euniaa Awiti, the late Eunia Awiti, the late Rael Adongo, Angelina Ondiek, Consolata Odongo, the late SyproSe Auma, Evalyn Otieno, the late Jacklyn Omingo, the late Alice Gondi, the lace Alberta Onyango, the late Christine Odera, the late Maurice Okello, the late Yonah Orao, the late Judith Onudi, Dr Arthur Onyango, the late Charles Onudi, Benjamin Omondi, Eunice Auma, George Okun, Marion Auma, Lilian Akoth, Phelgona Adhiambo, Pamela Achieng and Margaret Anyango.

He is survived by 52 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

There will be prayers and a fundraising to offset medical bills at Citam Valley Road on Monday 4th September, 2023 starting at 4.30 pm.

Prayers and funeral arrangements are being held at his home in Gem Kathomo.

The cortege leaves Star Funeral Home – Ogango, Kisumu on Friday 8th September 2023 at 9,00 am for a church service at Nyagondo Catholic Church. The burial will be on 9th September, 2023 at his home in Gem Kathomo, Kachar.
