It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the promotion to glory of our Patriarch Mzee John Kiptanui Kimaiyo Kamai of Metipso village, Kapkitony sublocation, Kabiemit Ward, Elgeyo Marakwet County after a short illness. Mzee John passed on at Karen Hospital Nairobi while undergoing treatment on Tuesday 04/04/2023.

He was the first-born son of the late Kipngetich Kipkamai Boroiywo and the late Tamining Kipngetich (Kapfrancis).

Beloved husband to the late Mrs. Jane Kiptanui.

He was a loving brother to Florence Kutto (Kaptagat), Leah Rotich (Kabalwat), Salina Chirchir (Kuinet) and Jonathan Kiprotich (Kapfrancis).

Son-in-law to Bundotich Beikong, and the late Elizabeth Taplelei Beikong of Kapchebelel.

Loving dad to Hon. Jackson Kiptanui (Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Margaret Aiyabei (County Government of Uasin Gishu), Joan Baskwony (Moi University, Eldoret), Joseph Kiptanui (Mater Hospital, Nairobi), The late Sylvia Kiprop (Chepkosom), Evans Kiptanui (Ainabkoi) and Shammah Kiptanui (Geothermal Development Company Ltd, Nakuru).

Loving father-in-law to Evelyne Kiptanui (Nairobi), Dr. Jonah Aiyabei (Kenya Pipeline Company, Nairobi), Job Baskwony (Moi University; AMPATH, Eldoret), Faith Kosgei (Kenya Pipeline Company, Nairobi), David Chepchoi (Eldomet SACCO), Alice Ngetich (Pioneer Academy) and Laura Chepkurui (Nakuru).

Brother in-law to Nicholas Kutto, Peter Chuma, Rtd. Lieut. Joseph Ngeny, Mary Rotich, the late Lucy Chemworem, Esther Beikong, Mary Chirchir, Moses Beikong, Christopher Beikong, Ednah Mammet and Caren Bundotich.

Uncle to Emmanuel, Deborah, the late Cosmas Kemboi, Mercy, Dan,Tabitha, Nathan, Gideon,Tecla, among others.

Cherished grandfather to Faith (USA), Victor, Caleb, Linet, Emmanuel, Jessy, Shem, Nimrod, Sandra, Zawadi, Alpha, Amani, Aiden, Amara, Mercy, Lynne, Bryan, Aneth, Blessings, lan, Abel, Jayden, Emmanuel, Alyssa, Melissa and Tifany. A cousin, great friend and advisor to many far and wide.

Funeral arrangement meetings are ongoing daily at Public Service Club (Mara Road) Nairobi: Sirikwa Hotel, Eldoret, and Kapkitony Home (Kabiemit Ward) starting 5.30pm.

Fundraisings to offset hospital bill and funeral expenses will be held at Public Service Club, Nairobi and Kapkitony Home (Kabiemit Ward) on Wednesday 12/04/2023 from 5:00pm, and at Sirikwa Hotel, Eldoret on Thursday 13/04/2023 from 5:00pm.

The cortege leaves Lee Funeral Home on Friday 14/04/2023 for an overnight vigil at Kapkitony Home. He will be laid to rest on Saturday 15/04/2023 at Kapkitony Sub-location, Kabiemit Ward, Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County, starting from 10:00am.
