of Dedan Njoroge, Alex Murage and Pam Atieno. Grandmother to Tyra, Kiama, Muugi, Mwangi Murage

Professor Dinguri Nick Mwaniki

1942-2016

We announce, with deep sorrow, the death of Prof Dinguri Nick Mwaniki an accomplished scholar, international
consultant and economist, which occurred in Nairobi on August 15, 2016. He was founder
and Chairman of the Coda Corporation Group based in Nairobi, Johannesburg, Kampala, Dar
es Salaam, Lilongwe, Harare and New York.
Son of the late Crispus Mwaniki Ndinguri and the late Josephine Thitu Mwaniki of Kanyore in
Githunguri, Kiambu County. Loving husband of Dr. Mebo Mwaniki and Juliet Mwaniki.
He is survived by his sons and daughters; Eng. Kwame B. Mwaniki, Thetu Kishoiyian,
Messu Toure Mwaniki, Dr. Butogwa Tiagha, Thabo Mwaniki and Thetu Mwaniki as well as

We regret to announce the death of Donald Buigut Kimutai, a long serving Council member of the University of Eldoret (2011 – 2016).
Kimutai served with distinction as the Principal Economist in the Budget Department and Donor Commodity
Co-ordinator; Deputy Secretary in the Treasury; Director of Budget in Treasury; Government appointed director at National Bank of Kenya, Kenya
Railways Corporation, Kenya Pipeline Corporation, Kenya Tourists Development Authority, Kenya Hotel Properties, Tana and Athi Development
Authority, Kerio Valley Development Authority.
He also served as Chairman of Central Tender Board of Kenya; Director of Budget & Financial Secretary/Accounting Officer in the Ministry of Finance;
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands Reclamation, Regional and Water Development.
After retirement from the public service, he served as CEO, Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC); Chairman of the
Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited, Chairman of CDF Keiyo South and until his demise, council member of the University of Eldoret.
He is an alumni of the University of Nairobi (BA & B.Phil.) and York University, Canada (MSc); Alliance High School, Kikuyu (‘O’-level & ‘A’-level);
Board member of Alliance High School, Kikuyu and Metkei Girls’ High School and teacher at Kapsabet High School.
Loving Husband of Nancy Kimutai. Father of Caroline Jerono, Anthony Buigut, James Kiprotich and Jonathan Kipkurui. Father in-law of Leary Bryan.
Grandfather of Ruby and Ebony. Mentor of many. He was son of the late Kibuigut Cheboi and late Rebecca Kabon Kibuigut; brother of Kanaptany

Agneta S.B. Akhaabi (Mrs) HSC

1957-2016

The County Government of Busia wishes to convey most sincere condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Agneta S.B. Akhaabi (Mrs) HSC who passed away on August 20, 2016 at the Mater Hospital, Nairobi, after a short illness.
Until her demise, Mrs Akhaabi was the chairman of the Busia County Public Service Board. During her tenure, Busia benefited immensely from her strong and inspirational leadership. She will be remembered for her tireless contribution in setting up systems and structures for the public service. Her role in ending the doctors and nurses strike in December 2016 is still fresh in our minds and will forever be appreciated. She was a down to earth woman whose leadership style will be missed by many.
Meetings for funeral arrangements are taking place at her homes in Nicres Close Syekuma Village, Nambale Township, Busia County and House No. 219 Ralph Close, Upper Kapiti, Kitengela, Kajiado County.
There will be a requiem mass for the late Agneta on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Holy Family Basilica, Nairobi, at 10am and at St Monica Catholic Church Kitengela at 6pm on the same day. The funeral service will be held at Nambale AC Primary School on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10am.
This will be followed by the final interment at her home in Nicres Close , Syekunga Village, Nambale Township, Busia County on the same day.

MZEE CARILUS OKWACH

1914-2011

Mzee Carrilus Okwach was born in 1914 to Baba Nyandiek Opiyo and mama Dorah Anyango of Kobiero Village, Kochia West location Homabay County.
He attended Olare primary school from 1921 to 1928.
He then proceeded to work in Kericho together with his longtime friend Anderipus Njira on an invitatiopn from Amayi Kamingo.
After many years in Kericho he decided to return back home in 1941 and got married to Sarah Awino Ondiek in 1942. They were blessed with two children Namely, the late Hulda Omollo and the late Samwel Okeyo.
He married his second wife Ziporah Ongao in 1962 and were blessed with six children namely, Dorah Anyango, Iscah Adoyo, the late Caren Apiyo, Solomon otieno, Elizabeth Achieng and Susan Akinyi.
He was the brother to the late Jacob Owange and Jairo Kunga, the late Damar Owuor, Catherine Opere, Nereah Alal, and Esther Aketch.
He was the father in law to Mrs Salome Okeyo and Judith Otieno.
He has left behind 36  grandren children and several great grand children.
The late Carrilus Okwach was a hard worker and thrived in everything he did. He was a great fisherman and was known allover the village for his grand catches. He had a business interest in skin and hides which he did very well and was reall famous in that too.

MR R.K.CHESIRE

1941-2008

Reuben Kiplagat Chesire was born on March 27TH 1941 to the great patriarch and matriarch, the late Isaiah Chemwetich Chesire and the late Elizabeth Kobilo Chesire in Kabarnet.  Reuben was brother to 11 siblings: Mrs. Rebecca Tomno, the late Mrs. Rhoda Kiptui, the late Daniel Chesire, Hon. Zipporah Kittony, Mrs. Lily Maiyo, Mrs. Betty Kipsaita, Mrs. Magdalene Chelimo, the late Esther Chesire, Mrs Emily Taruru, Mrs Margaret Kibogy and Mr Stephen Chesire.  When his father passed away in 1963, Reuben took on the mantle of the family, taking on the role of a parent and provider at an early age, to his younger siblings.
Reuben leaves behind his beloved wife Alice who was also his best friend of 25 years, Lydia, Caroline and Francisca and his children. He was the cherished father to Rose Kilele (PPD Consultants); Kiptoo Chesire (Learning Resources); Belinda Chesire (Canadian High Commission/CIDA); Janet Boit (Lawyer); Connie Asiyo (Businesswoman); Pamela Otieno (U.K.); William Chesire (Longleat Holdings, Nairobi); Renee Chesire (USA); Jerono Chesire (Calgary, Canada); Timothy Chesire (Leeds University, U.K.); Toroitich Chesire (St. Andrews University, Scotland) and David Chesire (St. Andrews, Turi).  All will attest to the fact that Reuben loved his children very much and he strived to give each one the best foundation possible.  In his wisdom, he selected the U.K & Canada as the destination of choice for their higher education.
He was further blessed with 16 grand-children: Chepkirui, Kibet & Nanette; Kiptala and Elizabeth; Sean & Jason; Chemutai, Timbi, Philip, Joshua & Angel; Richard, Warren and Tawo; and Maya.
He is father-in-law to Ronald Kilele, Anabelle Chesire, Peter Boit, Caesar Asiyo, William Otieno and Mumbi Chesire. He was brother-in-law to the late Wesley Tomno, Joshua Kiptui, Catheline and Constantine Chesire, the late Paul Kittony, the late Edward Maiyo, late Stephen Kipsaita, Joel Chelimo, Dr. Darius Taruru, the late Jonathan Kibogy and Irene Chesire; He is also brother-in-law to Richard Kipchillat, Prof Prisca Tuitoek, Dr. Cynthia Kipchillat and other members of the Kipchillat family.
The in laws include the Kileles, the Khatembwes of Uganda the Boit family, the Asiyo family, Hon Dalmas Otieno family Humphrey and Grace Mwaniki.

MAMA MARGARET AKINYI OWINO

1953-2015

The late Margaret Akinyi Owino or Nyalego as we fondly called her was born on 22nd August 1953 in Imbanya Village Alego Kaluo in Siaya County. She was the first born in a family of 14 (6 sons and 8 daughters) of the late Mzee Aloice Omondi and the late Wilfrida Apondi.The late Margaret started her education at Mbaga Mixed Primary School in Siaya County and Nyabondo Girls. She later joined Makerere University, Jinja campus and graduated with a diploma in secretarial. The late Margaret worked with several companies both in Jinja and Nairobi before joining Posta and later Telkom Kenya where she worked until her early retirement in 2007. She met and married her beloved husband Erastus Owino Kungu in Jinja, Uganda in 1971. They were blessed with four children namely, Millicent Achieng, the late Maureen Adongo, Humphrey Okello and Jacob Catwright. She lived to see her grandchildren namely Brandy, Andy, Patrick, Shanice and Kimberly.
She was doting mother to Stephen Ochieng, Josephine Aluoch, Victoria Anyango, Yvonne Awuor, Violet Awino, Vivian Auma, Mercy Atieno among others. She was a doting grandma to Junior Erastus, Emmanuel, Angel, Marcus-wills, Mackay, Manuel, Cindy, Sonia, Erastus John and Wendy. Margaret was born in a staunch catholic family. After her marriage she was converted to seventh day Adventist church. She was baptized at Kariobangi SDA church then moved membership to Jericho SDA church and later after her retirement to Odienya SDA church in 2008. In Kariobangi and Jericho, she participated in various capacities like Deaconess, youth and family counselor, Matron of church weddings and an active choir member. In Odienya SDA Church (2009) she was elected Sabbath school superintendent and served for two years. In 2010 she was elected as the first elder and served for two years. From 2011 she served as church Treasurer until her demise. She worked tirelessly and put in a lot of efforts in stewardship and placed the church at the peak. Margaret was ambitious and a procedural leader, through her efforts, she organized a funds drive in aid of campsite, church repairs and building the guest’s house, she served as Choir director and motivated members to achieve many goals. She was elected as secretary for women ministry within Olare block. Mama Margaret was in good health until the morning of 8th October 2015 when she complained of severe headache and neck stiffness.She sought medical attention at Afya Medical Center, Homabay where a physician made an impression of Meningitis infection hence her admission in the hospital. On the 9th of October, she was transferred to Agakhan hospital, Kisumu. At the Agakhan hospital she continued with treatment for meningitis and upon doing several investigations a diagnosis of Tetanus infection was made. On the 13th of October she was taken to ICU due to her deteriorating condition and went to be with the lord at 5pm on 14th October 2015.
