Priscilla Wanjiku Waithaka (Wakaruga)

 1934 – 8th April 2023

It is with profound grief and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Mrs. Priscilla Wanjiku Waithaka (Wakaruga) which occurred at Jumuia Hospital Huruma on the morning of 8th April 2023 after two months of hospitalization.

Beloved wife of the late Titus Waithaka Karuga, mother to Sarah Kiiru (U.S.A), John and Esther Karuga (USA), the late Dr. Rahab Njeri Nyaga and Nicholas Nyaga (Jumuia Hospital), James (ex KDF) and Joyce Gathunguri, Florence Wambui (U.S.A), Lucy Wairimu (Nairobi Hospital), Dr. Rachel Wanjiru Nyamu (KIST) and John Nyamu Karuru (Rwanda). Stepmother to the late Moses Ngugi, the late Elizabeth Wangui Thiong’o, the late Leonard Kimiti, and Loise Wangari Mirie.

Sister to Lilian Wairimu, Muturi and the late Rachel Wanjiru Njau and a step-sister to the late Silas Mwaura, Raymond Kuria, Gideon Waweru, Simon Karuga, and Leonard Kamanu among others.

Priscilla was a grandmother to 30 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 31 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are meeting daily for prayers and burial arrangements at her home in Njiku, Muthurwa at 3.00p.m.

The cortege leaves KU Referral Funeral Home, (Bypass) on Tuesday, 18th April 2023 at 8.30a.m. for the funeral service at ACK St. Luke’s Church, Muthurwa at 11.00a.m.Thereafter, the burial will take place at her residence in Njiku, Muthurwa.
