It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of Prof. Julius Wanjohi Mwangi, Ph.D. EBS, which occurred on the 08/06/2023 while undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital. Prof. Wanjohi was a Professor of Pharmacognosy at the University of Nairobi and the first one in East and Central Africa.

He was a loving husband to Faith Njeri Mwangi and the son of the late Mwangi Wainaina and Janet Wanjiru. He was the son-in-law of the late Thomas and Hannah Kabuitu. Father to Phillip Mwangi,Thomas & Dr. Catherine Maina, Janet Wanjiru, Stephen & Ivy Kibuci and Jason Kabuitu. He has left two grandchildren; Sarah and Anne Maina.

He was the brother to Jennifer & Obadiah Kariuki,Stephen & Irene Maina and Rose Wairimu. Prof.Wanjohi was a dear brother, uncle, grandfather, cousin, and friend to many.

Meetings are being held every day at his residence in Ruai at 4.00pm, at All Saints Cathedral on Tuesday 13/06/2023 and 14/06/2023 at 5.00pm, and every day at his Kianjege West home in Kirinyaga from 4.00pm.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday 15/06/2023 at 10.00am at All Saints Cathedral.

Burial service will take place at Kianjege West Primary School – Kariti Ward at 10:00am and proceed to the grave site at his home in Kianjege Kirinyaga County on Friday 16/06/2023.
