Professor Agnes Mary Wangari Gathumbi

Born 11th March 1952 – Died 10th March 2019

We announce the death of Professor Agnes Mary Wangari Gathumbi of Kenyatta University who went to be with the Lord on Sunday 10th March 2019 through the fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash in Ethiopia.

Beloved wife of J. S. Gathumbi and loving mother to Christine Wairimu & Steve Nduati, Stella Wambui Gathumbi and Anabel Wachui Gathumbi. Dotting grandmother of Jeremy Mureu Nduati, Jasmine Wangari and Jaida Wangari. Daughter of the late Arthur Mwangi George & Teresa Wambui. Granddaughter to the late Mwalimu George Kinyua & late Elizabeth Wanja. Sister to Elijah Njoroge & the late Catherine Nyaguthie Njoroge, Mike Muriithi & Eunice Mukami Muriithi. Daughter in Law to the late Solomon Njunji & late Beth Wairimu.

Sister in love to the late Margaret Nyambura & late Benson Gathii, George & Jane Kamau, Late Grace Waruguru & late Obadiah Mbuthia, Asenath Wanjiru and the late Peris Muthoni. Loving cousin to Jane Lucy & Jeff Gachihi, the late John Njoroge Ndung’u & Jane Njoroge Ndung’u, Arthur George’s family, Zavelio Chege’s family, the Gachigi family and others and also adored auntie to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at the family home in Thome Estate and on Wednesday 20th March 2019 and Friday 22nd March 2019 at All Saints Cathedral at 5.00pm.

The Requiem Mass will be held on Tuesday 26th March 2019 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church – Thome Estate at 10.30am.
