Retired Lay Reader Samuel Maina Thanji  

It is with deep sorrow as the Thanji family announce the death of Retired Lay reader Samuel Maina Thanji on Wednesday 21st November 2018 at Boston medical centre USA.

Born to the late William Thanji Gathu and Jerusha Mwihaki Thanji of Kimangu Village, Gituamba sub location, Kiambu County. Beloved husband of Fridah Wanjiru Maina. Father of Nelly Nyambura Miano, the late Edith Mwihaki Maina, William Herman Thanji, Solomon Mungai Maina, and Anne Wanjiku-Wilson. Stepson of Royce Wanjiru Thanji. Brother of Francis Gachukia, Fredrick Mbugua, Margaret Wanjiku Karanja, Godfrey Ng’ang’a, Roxana Waithira Kabuga, the late Charles Kimani, Edward Gitau, Mercy Wambui Nduati, Harrison Njuguna and Edith Njeri. Stepbrother of Agnes Wanjiku Macharia, Tabitha Wambui Chege, Catherine Waithira Wanyumba, Samuel Gathu, Elizabeth Wanja,Teresia Wagikoe, Peter Mwangi, Patrick Mbugua and Jackson Kimani.

Father-in-law of Boniface Miano Kariuki, Florence Wanjiku Thanji, Milka Wanjiku Mungai and Wilson Ndiho. Grandfather of Feedah Wanjiru Mwihaki, the late Patriciah Nyambura, Samuel Robinson Gathu, Shelmith Wanjiku, Ian Kariuki, Alex Gathu, Patience Wanjiru, Sammy Wesley Gathu,Tabitha Cloe Wangari, Nyssa Nyambura, Prudence Wanjiru, Job Wesley Gathu and Chris Given Ndungu Joy Nyagichuhi and Victor Ndiho. Great grandfather of Tom Declan Miano and Nadia Mwihaki.

Family, relatives and friends are meeting at his home Guthurai 45 everyday from 6:30 pm for prayers.

Memorial service will be on Thursday 6th December 2018 at ACK St. Timothy Church Githurai 45 at 2pm.

The cortege leaves Kenyatta University funeral home on Saturday 8th December 2018 at 9am. Burial service will be held at ACK St. Barnabas, Otiende, Nairobi at 10am and the body laid to rest at Langata Cemetery at 12noon.
