Rev John Kimani Wathanga

2nd February, 1958 – 2nd March, 2022

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the untimely demise of John Kimani Wathanga which occurred on 2nd March 2022, exactly a month after his 64th birthday.

He is a retired mechanical engineering lecturer, whose last posting was at Nairobi Technical Training Institute.

John was the son to the late Senior Chief James Wathanga Muya and the late Gladys Muthoni Wathanga.

Brother to the late Joyce Wairimu Wathanga, Joshua Muya Wathanga, Rose Wambura Gatimu, W’Muchau, Gitonga Wathanga and Jane Wamuyu Mwangi. He was the loving husband to Rev Charity Kimani.

Adoring father of Gladys Muthoni (Aquinas High School). Leanne Makenna Jelani (Management Consultant) and Tim Joel Wathanga (Architect). Grandfather to Kimani Njamba Curtis.

Family and friends will be meeting daily at the Ruiru home. Prayers for the family will be held at CITAM Valley Road on Monday, 7th and Wednesday, 9th March, 2022 from 5.30 pm.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday 10th March, 2022 at CITAM Valley Road starting from 2.30pm.

The funeral service will be held at the grounds of Mihuti PCEA Church, and thereafter burial at Mukundu Farm, Mihuti, Mukurwe-ini, Nyeri on Friday, 11th March, 2022.
