It is in humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Mwalimu Rev. Johnston Harry Ashene, that occurred in Butere on 28th March, 2023.
Son of the late Elphas and Beledina Omukhoko. Son-in-law to the late Stefano and Damaris Shimejero.
Beloved husband of 53 Years to Florah Ashene. Father to Jennifer Kipneetich, Dr. David Scott Omutimba (Moi University), Sam Akhwale; Catherine Troolin, Joshua Omukhoko, Andrew Eshitubi, Stephen Shimejero and Emmanuel Wanguba. Father-in-law to John Tunge, Dr. Harriet Omutimba (fiasco Consultants), Pauline Akhwale, Mike Troolin, Brenda Omukhoko, Laetia Mbaya and Electine Kwena. Grandfather to Arnold, Collins, Earl, Haylee, Jamie, Sahra, Paul, Hans, Ashley, Adrian, Amanda, Alvin, Jesse,Theo, Eliana, Stephanie, Reuel and Zuriel.
Brother to the late Okutoyi, the late Jotham Mumanyi, the late Weta, Decima Makale, Beatrice Tubuula, Simon Ambululi and Eunice Majengo.
Brother-in-law to Agnetta Mahangilu, Elly Shavola, Shem Inyumill, Salome Mwelesa, Rev. Serah Savwa, Christopher Bulemi, Solomon Ombima, Rev. Noel Asunga; the late Lurando, the late Clyde Mutuli, the late Peter Tubuula and Joshua Majengo. Uncle, friend and mentor to many.
The funeral procession leaves Butere Funeral Home on Friday 7th April, 2023 for a service at A.C.K. St. Peter’s Church – Muyundi at 9:30am. Burial will be on the following day on 8th April, 2023 at his home at Emuyundi Mulwanda, Muyundi Sub-location, Marenyo Location, Butere Sub-county in Kakamega County.
