SUNRISE-1943: SUNSET-2023

The Late Rose Odira Mbai was born and grew up in Kanyamwa, Kwandiku location/village, Ndhiwa Sub-County in 1943 to the late Jaduong Oluoch Agoro and Mama Anna Omburo Otiwa. She was the first child of her parents and sister to Mr. Aloice Ongala Oluoch and the Late Consolata Adhiambo Agwonga Oluoch

In 1960, Rose was married to the Late Mr. Maurice Mbai Obonyo and were blessed with five (5) children; A. Jomo Mbai, Ronald Kennedy Mbai, Mary Akinyi Mbai, Seline Ayoo Mbai and the late Toefill Omondi Mbai. She was a co-wife to Catherine Mbai, Ann Mbai all who are the late and Isabela Mbai. She was a stepmother to Chrispine Odhiambo Mbai, Donald Mbai, Mary Mbai, Cheritich Mbai, Joan Mbai all who are the late and Raymond Mbai, Gerald Mbai, Francis Mbai, Beatrice mbai, Kiprono Mbai, Akinyi Mbai, Clement Mbai, Judith Mbai, Irene Mbai, George Mbai, Chris Mbai and Irene Mbai

Mrs. Rose Mbai fell ill in mid-February 2023. On 16th February 2023 she was taken and treated at Meditrina hospital and went back home but four days later there was still no change as the pain and discomfort persisted. She went back to hospital on 23rd February, where thorough check up and test were done and revealed that her lungs was filled with fluid and was pushing the trachea outward thus causing severe chest pain, nausea and vomiting. She was referred for admission at Homa Bay Referral hospital same day where treatment also commenced. She was discharged two weeks later but was to continue treatment as an outpatient. Monday, 12th March, 2023 she went for the dialysis procedure as was scheduled but this was not done as she developed complications and had to be readmitted for further tests. Her health deteriorated and at 3.00 p.m on Saturday 18th March, 2023 Mama Rose breathed her last.
