Samuel Oyoo Athembo

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that the KEFRI management announce the passing on of Samuel Oyoo Athembo formerly of Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) Headquarters – Muguga, which occurred on 31St March, 2023 at St Joseph Ombo Mission Hospital – Migori.

Son of the late James Athembo and Elseba Ayiemba.

Husband to the late Jane Akinyi, and Leah Aoko, Mourine Atieno. Father of Mercy Awour, Jack of (KDF), Enos, Agutu, Lorine, James of Kisii university, Perez,George, Akinyi, Gerald, Wendy and the late Tresy.

Brother of Perez Atieno and Kesia Auma.

Son-In-law of the late Samson Oloo and Pesila juma Oloo. Brother-in-law of Leonard, the late Tom, Otieno, Omondi Quinter, and Rebbeca.

Family and friends are meeting daily at his KEFRI Residential House and at his home Lambwe Kamoto Village, Suba- North Sub-county of Homabay County.

The body is lying the Med 25 Kerindo Mortuary in Homa-Bay.The cortege will leave the mortuary on 13th April, 2023 for overnight stay at his home. Burial service will take place on 14thApril, 2023 at his home Kamato Village, Suba-North.
