It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden demise of the Senior Chief (RTD) Samuel Kipruto Koech on 13th March 2023.

He was born in 1945 in Mogoget village of Nandi County to the late Kipkoech Arap Kurgat and the Late Cheboo Kurgat, the late Salome Kurgat and the late Sarah Kurgat.

Loving brother of the Late Edwin Koech, late Jeremiah Koech, late Gideon Buigut, late Eunice Mutai,Vivian Rona, Irene Saina, Milcah Kirui, Rhodah Rop and Ruth Kios. He was a step brother to the late Arap Mutai, late Arap Kerich,Arap Mosbei, late Kiptormoi Soy, Chebet, the late Martin, David, Ezekiel, Hosea, Japheth, Cheruto, Julia and Bethsheba, Kipchirchir and the late Chebitok.

He was married to Joyce Koech and were blessed with eight children; Noah Ruto (Prisons-Kitale), Maj Samson Sorobit (RTD) (Senate), Stephen Cheruiyot, Ann Cherono, Rael Chepkemei, Rahab Jepkemboi, Nicanor Kiplimo and Hillary Kipchirchir. He was the father-in-law to Helen Ruto, Marykaren Sorobit, Late Phylis Koech, Late Grace Koech and Stella Sorobit.

Son-in-law to Chebochok Arap Barno (Kaptitilit).

He was blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Late Samuel Koech served as the Senior Chief Soy Location, Uasin Gishu County from 1981-2000. He was greatly involved in Ploughing contest and emerged the National Ploughing contest Champion for three editions and represented Kenya in World Ploughing contest in Australia in 1982, Great Britain in 1984 and Austria in 1987.

The cortege leaves Eldoret Hospital at 09.00 a.m. on Monday, 27th March 2023 to his home in Muyengik Village, Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County. Interment will be done on Tuesday, 28th March, 2023 at his home.
