Sophie Kirigo Wainaina

20th March 1953 — 30th September 2022

It is with profound loss and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Sophie Kirigo Wainaina, which occurred at the Mater Hospital – Nairobi on 30/09/2022, after a short illness.

A loving wife to Simon Kang’ethe Wainaina. Dear mother to Jack Wainaina, June Njeri and Lorna Nyokabi. Mother-in-law to Wilson Arusei Koech. Doting grandmother to Kiptai Bett, Jeptoo Bett and Jerop Bett.

Daughter of the late Elemenjidio Kibaara and Laura Nyokabi of Kamakwa Village, Nyeri. Sister to Matthew & Grace; the late Elesphan & Juliana; the late Edward Theuri; Dominic & Rebecca; Esther/ Sosiwa; Ephraim & Flora; Margaret Gakenia;Wanjiru & the late Kamau; Wangari & Gitau.

Daughter-in-law to the late Jason Wainaina Muiru, the late Helen Njeri and Mary Njeri of Githima Village, Murang’a. Sister-in-law to Sabina & Peter; Erastus & Nelly; Thomas & Terry; George & Mary, Pauline & Paul; the late Benson & Grace; Mary & the late Anthony; Terry & Eric; Alice & Dominic; Jacinta & Gerald and Joyce Wanjiru. Sophie was a wonderful cousin, aunt and friend to many.

Prayers will be held daily at the family home.

A requiem mass will be held on Wednesday 12/10/2022 at 2.00pm at the Don Bosco Catholic Church – Upper Hill. Prayers and viewing of the body will be at the Montezuma Funeral Home – Kabati on Friday 14/10/2022 at 8.00am; thereafter the cortege shall depart for Githima Village, Murang’a County where Sophie shall be laid to rest.
