Catherine Muyodi Opecho

24th August, 1964 – 266 May, 2025

It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Mrs. Catherine Muyodi Opecho.

Daughter of the late Mzee Ferdinand Ong’wen and the late Mama Clementina Anyango of Elukongo village, Marachi East Location, Butula, Busia County.

Loving wife of Mr. Innocent Obara Opecho. Loving mother of Linda, the late Sylvia, Jerry, Brenda,Aniala, Mark and Philip. Mother-in-law of James, Emmanuel and Gracejoy. Grandmother of Zoila, Taji and Dahlia.

Daughter-in-law of the late Mzee Clement Owori Obara, the late Kanito, the late Egesa (Imuna), Paulo Sanya, the late Nabwire Anjala, the late Veronica Anjala (Mukhana wa Odunga), the late Sofia, the late Auma,Teresa and Gaudencia.

Sister-in-law of the late Angelina, Honori, the late Francisca, Omuse, the late Akumu, Narocho, Nyongesa, Omina, the late john,Akoch, Auma, the late Sammy, Rebecca, Emmanuel, the late Lazarus, Ajiambo, the late Akumu, Jou, the late Knight, Apondi (Sunday), Kalasina, Awino, Nabwire, Sister Cyrilla, Sister Theresa and the Jumas.

Sister of Anerico, the late John,Victor, Ignatius, Everline, jentrix, George and the late Knight Ong’wen.

Cousin of the Musundis, Okwaros, Ondusyes, Osores and others in Muyodi’s family and the Ocholas. Auntie, niece, friend and mentor to many.

Family and friends are meeting daily at the family homes in Pioneer Estate Phase I B, Nairobi and Emaseno, Mundika.

A requiem mass will be held at the Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home Chapel on June 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m.

The cortege leaves Montezuma Funeral Home on 13th June 2025. A requiem mass ,sill be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Mundika on 13th June, 2025 from 2.00 pm, thereafter proceed to her home in Emaseno, Mundika, Busia County. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, 14th June, 2025, at Police grounds (Next to Trailer Tourist Inn Hotel) from 9.30 am, followed by burial at her home.

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. L._ Philippians 1:20-21
