1930 – 2020

We are sad to announce the death of Dr. Albert Joseph Maleche, formerly of the University of Nairobi, and Kenyatta University. He passed away at the age of 90 years on 20th September 2020 at Coptic Hospital, Nairobi.

Dr Maleche was a visionary, distinguished academician, and pioneer of the field of education psychology in Kenya. He was a leader among his people and peers, and brought transformation and development to his community by establishing schools and health facilities in Ikolomani constituency.

Dr Maleche was the beloved son of the late Rev. Stephen Achesa Maleche and the late Mrs. Rael Asubila Biala of Bushiangala Village, ldakho, Kakamega. Loving husband of Agnetta Winifred Maleche, loving father to Virginia Maleche, Prof Elizabeth Maleche Obimbo, Stephen Achesa Maleche, Lydia Maleche, the late Peter Maleche and Violet Maleche. Father in law to Ken Obimbo, Margaret Guyavi and Rafael Herrera. He was the devoted brother of the late Damary Esese, late Simon Maleche, late Lazaro Maleche, late Jeremiah Maleche, Bertha Ambundo, Meshack Maleche, the late Dr. Jacob Maleche and Mabel Oriedo. Grandfather to James, Peter, Jessica and Nicole Obimbo, Joe and Winnie Achesa, Jasmine Maleche and Nalo Herrera.

The cortege will leave Chiromo Mortuary on Thursday 24th September 2020 and proceed to his final resting place at his farm in Sirakaru, Tongaren constituency, Bungoma at 9.30am on Friday 25th September 2020.
