Dr. Dickson Otieno Owiti

Maseno University regrets to announce the demise of Dr. Dickson Otieno Owiti of School of Agriculture and Food Security which occurred on 31st August 2019 after painstakingly battling pancreatic Cancer. Until his demise he was the Chairman of the Department of Fisheries and Natural Resources.

Son of the late Mzee Harun Owiti and Mama Caren Achola Owiti; beloved husband of Mitchel Atieno Otieno, daughter of the late Hannington Odhacha and Mama Penina Odhacha of Kanyada Kanyabala. Brother of Elly Owiti, Principal Gingo Secondary School, Boaz Owiti-Sikri Technical Training Institute for the Blind and Deaf, Mikal Owiti and the Late Charles Owiti, formerly Ringa Boys Secondary. Father of Harriet Otieno of Kendu Muslim Secondary school, June Otieno of Nyambare Secondary School, Topher Otieno, formerly of Maseno University, Wolfgang Otieno of Maseno University, Stephan Otieno of Kenyatta University, Lavine Otieno of Coast Polytechnic and Britta Otieno of Maseno University.

Father-in-law of Maureen Ogenga Otieno of Rae Girls Secondary School and grandfather of Alpha Lerato, Miva Ann and Alma Lethabo. Uncle of Eng. Rodgers Owiti of Safaricom, Carol, Sharon, Felix, Susan, Pasteur Owiti formerly of JKUAT, Samwel Owiti, Jerry, Sarah, Everlyne, Teddy, Ruby, Phanuel, Alice, Nelly, Billy and many others. He is brother-in-law of Dimon Odhacha, Amos, Julius, Jane, Mical, Caroline and Albert.

The cortege leaves Aga-Khan mortuary on 12th September 2019 for home in Kogweno Oriang sub-location/Otok Village in Karachuonyo Constituency, Homa-bay County.

Burial will be on the 13th September 2019.
