I am sad as I jot these few words about Kirubi. I knew Kirubi from Embu when he worked as a researcher at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute near Kangaru, Embu, and I taught next door at the then Embu Institute of Agriculture, P.O. Box 6, Embu. We shared walks up and down the Kangaru-Embu road to go shopping or to while away free time. He always had stories and jokes to tell! His vision of agriculture, in particular, was a century ahead of his time then. No wonder he was so passionate about improving agricultural practices and production.

I send my well wishes and condolences to his bereaved family, relatives, students, and friends. May the Lord give you strength to endure the loss. He was a gift to many of us. So, may his legacy of goodwill keep on growing….

I knew Dr. Kirubi from 2012 as a freshman at Kenyatta University. I love scholars and definitely, you were one. I will never forget the many trips we made twice a week from the main campus to Ruiru for lessons. You were never strick. Instead, you advised us as an elder. I thank God for a having known a scholar like you. May your way shine to eternity.

I remember the University requiring us to use our own means and Dr. Kirubi insisted that we had to be provided with buses to and from Ruiru campus. We have really lost a mentor who was very strict and stood for justice. Rest in Peace daktari
