Dr. Mathew Murunga Mukhwana (Prof)

It is with shock and sadness that we announce the passing on of Dr. Mathew Murunga Mukhwana -(MMM) a senior lecturer of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Kabianga. Until his demise, Dr. Murunga Mukhwana was teaching, Analytical Chemistry at the University of Kabianga.

Son of the late Thomas Mukhwana and Anne Namarome of Lurende Village, Bungoma Husband of Beatrice Murunga. Father of Gary, Brian (StanChart), Edgar (Africa Legal Network), Pauline and Becky. Brother of Jordina Mutoro, the late William Simiyu, Mary Kizito, Eng. John Situma (Tanzania), Alice Wafula (NZOWASCO), Dr. Juma Mukhwana (KNQA), Ignatius Wangila (Cardinal Otunga High School), Marriam Yusuf (Kibabii University), Videllis, Isaac Opicho (Landex Group Limited) among others. Brother-in-law of Moses Mutoro, Patrick Kizito, Mary Situma (Min. Of Agriculture Bungoma), the late Protus Wafula, Lucia Juma (KAGRC, Nairobi) among others.

Uncle of Berrick Mutoro, Dennis Mutoro, Ham Wasike, Eng. Godwin Wasike, Dennis Wasike (Council of Governors), Bruno Situma, Noella Situma, Ian Wafula (Africa is Talking), Tonny Wekesa (University of Nairobi), Owen Wafula (LVNWSB), Joan Wafula (KCB, Bungoma). Son-in-law of the late Charles Silingi and Phanice Sayo of Iduku Village. Brother-in-law of Ben Korongo and Basakwa of Samuel Momanyi.

He previously taught Chemistry at Butonge, Namilama and Kibabii High Schools. He has served as Deputy Principal and principal at Namilama and principal at Namilama, Ndengelwa, Kimukung’i and – Sirisia High Schools where he was fondly referred to as “Good teacher”.

The cortege leaves Life Care Mortuary, on Thursday 18th July at 3.00pm for mass at Kibabii Catholic Church. Burial will take place at his Kibabii Home on Saturday 20th July.
